    Default Unlocking 2G IPhone help

Thanks for help! I have read for 4 hours and cannot understand all the information here as alot is outdated and there are too many terms to remeber.

My girlfriend has a 2G phone and she is canceling her service. She gets a free service plan with AT@T with a Blackjack phone.

I suggested ONLY unlocking the Iphone and putting the Blackjack sim card in the Iphone.

    Questions:

1)Should I just use the Quickpwn tool and is it straighforward?
2)When the new update comes out this Friday for the Iphone will this have an impact of using Quickpwn?
3)Can the phone Brick itself or get corrupted?
4)If a Brick or corruption occurs can you recover?
5)If you can recover where do I learn to make a full backup?

Thanks for help I cannot read anymore tonight?

    Regards,

    urrterrible

    1. Yes quickpwn is straight forward. Go to iclarified.com for tutorial with pictures.
    2. DO NOT attempt to use firmware 2.2 until you hear/read that it is ok to use. Best is to wait for the updated version of quickpwn, pwnagetool
    3. Yes if you don't follow instruction. The most critical part is when bootneuter is running to neuter the bootloader and unlocking the baseband. This is very very important that you follow instruction.
    4. Less than 50/50 chance depending on the kind of corruption. If you interfere while bootneuter is running, you are asking for major trouble.
    5. Full backup of what?

If a corruption occurs I heard you can 'backup' your Iphone to fix it.

1)Does Itunes do this for you or should i download firmware 2.1.0 which is the firmware that I am currently at via Itunes updates?

2)Also, from what I have read since I am taking an AT@T sim card from a Blackjack phone to an AT&T Iphone phone all I need to do is "Activate" the phone with Quickpwn. Is this accurate?

    Thanks,

BTW I was in the irc chat room and someone there told me that I didn't need to unlock or jailbreak the iphone 2G in order to get another AT&T sim card to work. They stated all I needed was to ACTIVATE the phone with Quickpwn.

I just looked on the iClarified site and looked at a tutorial for Quickpwn and did not see anything where I could "Activate"

    Thanks,

Found answer in chat room.....thanks to the community

if you need to just activate your 2G iphone you can only jailbreak it and not unlock it.

    Thanks
