Can anyone tell me why this method requires a patched mobileinstallation file.
I want to try this but that's the only thing stopping me.
I thought the mobileinstallation file should only be patched to allow the addition of cracked .ipa's through itunes.
Does this method need the patched file to show Cydia and installer, and if so can anyone explain why this is.
Thanks in advance.

The placement of my installer icon looks lower than the rest of the icon.
Anyone facing this issue ?

I believe you are correct, its only needed for cracked ipa's.
Some hints (after hours of work):
- Those that can just shift-restore from iTunes8, you're lucky. For me, I *had* to uninstall and reinstall 7.7.
- After reinstalling, I WinPWN'd iTunes and did the shift-restore (in DFU). Yes it worked. When you WinPWN iTunes, just use any FW file.
- When you uninstall iTunes 8 and reinstall 7.7, make sure you delete the files like it was mentioned in the first post.

This version works like a charm.
Except
Cydia, when opened for the first time, does some re arranging thing that takes a long time. Matter of fact, I ruined my first update by terminating and restarting my iPhone while Cydia was rearranging. iPhone wouldn't boot!
I think Cydia should let prople know in advance how long this process is.
A quick restore to 2.1 in iTunes 8 and QuickPwn again solved my issue.
Other than that everything was smooth.
Quick question for anyone, does quickpwn enlarge my partition size from 500 meg?
Thanks dev team.

When youre in the "recovery mode loop" use either iliberty or ziphone to kick it out of recovery mode.
not sure where it is on the ziphone but with iliberty you go to:
Other tools tab > then press "jump out of recovery mode" button and youll be out of recovery mode
