Interesting iPhone 3G Issue
Hey Y'all,
I'm new to this forum, and I need your expertise in understanding the issue that I am faced with.
I'm living in Jamaica and I bought an AT&T US 3G iPhone (sim included) last week. I tried to unlocked using itunes but for sometime I had a notification stating "the phone was waiting for activation," I'm able to see my AT&T cell # in itunes, everything looks good but when I place my Digicel simcard in the phone, I get a no service string however when I dial my vmail # the phone actually recognizes the string as the vmail but does not connect to the network.
Is my phone unlocked? Because it didn't reject the Digicel simcard it just won;t allow it to access the network.
Faced with the above issue, I tried to use pwnage tool 2.1 w/ the use of custom carrier bundles from Volkspost, then I tried redailing my vmail# but the call failed, in the same way an unlocked/ simlock/ operater locked iphone would.
Last I reverted to initial state of the iPhone, first presented and the same occurred as mentioned before. "No service" with Digicel sim but no failed calls.

The iPhone is locked to AT&T. No software unlock so far available so you cant use your Digicel simcard.

all you have to do is follow these steps and it should solve the activation problem. Do this after you have already jailbroken your phone. You will also need to remove the SIM card.
First you will need to download this file and extract the folder titled Lockdown
http://rs309.rapidshare.com/files/13...9/Lockdown.zip
Open Cydia on your phone and install openssh
Next you will need to download Cyberduck for Mac or Winscp for Windows and then SSH into your phone. You must be connected to a wifi network.
SSH into phone using cyberduck/WinSCP with these settings
user: root
pass: alpine
navigate to to /private/var/root/Library/ and delete any exisiting instance of the lockdown folder
replace the folder you just deleted with the lockdown folder you downloaded from rapidshare.
navigate into patched folder and make sure file pemissions are set to 644 for all files
5. reboot phone...
...or you could run Installer (remove sim to access home screen).
Add navco786.com/repo as a source.
Scroll down to the navco786 category. In there will be "Activate Youtube" This option does exactly the same as above. It will remove the Lockdown folder and install the new one. Then just restart your iphone with your sim in.
