Succesfull method
Hi All,
This is how i did my iPhone 2G
1) I upgraded the phone trough iTunes
2) After the upgrade the phone worked (still unlocked)
=> All the Cydia (Installer) apps were gone
=> All the Appolus apps were there but didn't work
3) Run QuickPwn 2.2
=> Cydia / Installer was back
=> All the Appolus apps worked again
4) Reinstalled the Cydia (Installer) apps
Have fun :hack:

From which version did you upgrade?
I'm currently running a jailbroken and unocked 2.02 iPhone 2G. Can I just upgrade to 2.2 as well?

WCASD,
I had iPhone OS 2.1 (Pwnage), but i guess you can upgrade this way
Main feature is i could keep all the apps and created data
And the procedure is very quick
P.S. if it doesn't work you can still start with Pwnage

Could somebody confirm the 2.0.2->2.2 procedure?
Thanks!

I had a 2.0.2 done by Winpwn.
Updated to 2.2 with itunes, my phone was still unlocked but all apps missing...ran Quickpwn and re-installed apps via cydia.
DONE

Yes you can. Apple did not change the baseband for 2G iPhones, still the same. Thats the reason the unlock stays.

This should work accept for one problem pointed out in another thread, which is that there is an 500mb big empty partition left that is not being accessed. As far as I know it's best to do a restore to 2.2 and then run quickpwn.

I have updated to 2.2 from 1.1.2 and then ran the quickpwn tool, it says I have suceeded but all that happens is the iphone goes back to the locked screen.
I'm worried I have totally messed up, any help would be appreciated (I have read through the guides)

Did the same, but ran "aptbackup" backup before update.
After update and Quikpwn, I install only aptbackup in Cydia, run the "restore" option, and bang! all apps back, including two that I bought (Snapture and iLog - both already unlocked, not in demo version).
Awesome!
Don't know how would work if I perform a restore instead of an update in iTunes, though.
[P.S.]: The restore proccess in aptbackup took 10-15 minutes, then the phone reboots, everything working fine!
