I see. I have to admit that I always have a harder time to get into DFU mode from a powered up iphone. It always ended up in shuting down the iphone completely! :p

Personally, I find that it's easier to get into DFU mode from a powered down iphone rather then from a powered up iphone.

I have an Gen 1. OOB 1.1.2 BL 4.6 -->Jailbroken, Activated and unlocked.

Have been waiting for right moment to upgrade to 2.0.2

    From what I'm reading QuickPwn RC3 1.5.1 is all I need !!! Yes ???

Do I need to update to 1.1.4 first ???

Do I need to reinstall apps, music, and other content ??

Are their any known issues with WiFi, Safari or YouTube using this method ??

    - If you think about it, holding power 5 sec doesn't do anything.
dtube, holding power for 5 sec first was twice in your post which I quoted, and now you say it doesn't do anything.. What's more, that's how I got into DFU mode eventually from the powered up iphone. Anyway, could be working both ways, though the instructions didn't work for me... And like I said going into DFU from a powered down phone doesn't work with RC3 as you can't move past the screen when it says "connect the phone to USB" if your phone is powered off... Anyway, could be the USB port's fault after all..

    Oh...
I think you misunderstood my post. I did not write that as a tutorial step by step. I was generalized and doing it from memory

I used QuickPwn RC3, select the 2.0.2 fw, select cydia & installer & unlock. QuickPwn then put phone in restore mode then prompted to hold power, hold power+home and etc... It then proceed to jailbreak, activate the phone then reboot. After reboot, bootneuter ran to unlock the phone.

    It's very easy.

ps: The part where it asks to hold power, home and etc ... is fast so be prepared to react AS SHOWN ON THE SCREEN. Lastly, this version when run does not show the command prompt window like previous version.
That's why I said to do exactly as shown on the screen - Sorry for the confusions everyone.

I have just successfully upgraded my 2G iPhone from 2.0 to 2.0.2.

    Did a Shift+Restore in iTunes
Executed QuickPwn following all the instructions.
Opened iTunes and asked to restore from previous backup

    Everything working fine.

    Simple and easy.

    Unhappy synchronizing troubles

well I just did the whole process, put my 2G that was on 2.0.0 in DFU and restored to the original 2.0.2 ispw file, then I used QuickPwn RC3 to jailbreak and unlock which all went flawlessly (so it seems) but then the troubles start...
after the phone was all Pwn-ed I wanted to do a restore of my contacts so plugged into iTunes which promtly recognised it and told me I have synced before so do I want to restore this sync? yes I do (as I have done before, It would extremely suck to lose all my text messages and settings!) so the phone starts syncing (waay too long but hey that's iTunes forya) and when it finishes all my contacts, text messages are on there.. hooray i thought.... untill i looked at iTunes. iTunes still sees a new phone and wants to know if I want to set this up as a new phone or sync with my previously backed up version, well I tried that a few times and mo luck, keep getting to the same screen.
    soooooo
is there any way to bypass this screen? should I set it up as a new phone? (don't I lose al my settings then?) I am really hesitant to do so! did anyone have this problem before and what can I possibly do to fix it? any help would be greatly appreciated, for now I think i might just wait for winpwn to be released tomorrow and hope that will do the trick but then.. this wa a much more elegant way i think.

anyway, I hope you geniousses will be able to help me out! thanks in advance!

    edit:
an older backup worked fine, very odd as the recent one did put al my stuff on there, itunes just didn't wanna see it. i am trying the recent one now (after the older one with rightclick option) hope this will do the trick. if only itunes wasn't so darn slow...

    My problem was solved too:
I made one mistake and using a front USB port which does not deliver enough power for DFU mode. So if you want to use DFU always ensure to have enough power on your phone
