Hi, I have a problem. The jb & unlock works perfect for me. But when I restore as a backup thru iTunes (i.e. to get my settings, etc.. back), Cydia and Installer disappear! Is there any way to get Cydia back? Need it!

    Thanks in advance!

i would say that doesn't sound right; the whole process from start to finish for me was around 25-30mins. the upload of the exploit was around 5mins or so from memory

Hi, I just tried it. It didn't work..

When you say jailbreak again, you mean go thru the same process just that I don't tick "Unlock" right? It still doesn't work.

Em can't see why that would happen, I'd start again

Putting the phone in DFU mode do a restore with a STD 2.2 firmware then jailbreak with Quickpwn2.2.

Like you said if you have already unlocked the 04.05.04 Baseband you wouldn't need to tick unlock box

ok I got it to work. Not only does it not display the cydia icon, it does not display any other app from appstore that I have restored to.

what I did was before restoring from the backup, I installed Dock via Cydia. After restoring, I used Dock to get to Cydia and installed Categories, then sorted all my apps and I could see them again, via Categories or Dock. Weird problem! But I'll live with it!

Found the answer... some computers dont recognize the DFU mode. Therefor it seems the phone get stuck. So try it on another one. It worked for me.

Default "iphone could not be restored an unknown error occurred (5)" - 2.2 firmware

    Symptoms:
When trying to update or restore your iPhone or iPod touch with iTunes, you may see an error message in iTunes that stops the update or restore process. You may also see the "Connect to iTunes" screen on your iPhone or iPod touch:

"iphone could not be restored an unknown error occurred (5)"

I have the same problem when i try to restore to 2.2 firmware

    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1275

I did everything what is given above article , i tried the DFU mode to restore still the same error .Anyone having the same issue.

    thnx
