Default [Question] Losing storage space after update?

    Hi,

I am planning to update my pwnd 2.01 2G to stock 2.1 via itunes 8, and then use Quickpwn to jailbreak.

I heard you will lose around 500MB of space if you do an update/upgrade on a jailbroken phone via Itunes instead of doing a restore (http://sleepers.net/news/2008/09/19/...ade-in-itunes/).

Does anyone know if this is true?

    Thanks in advance.

Funny you mentioned this. I thought I was mad but this is true. But, I think it has to do with game saves and other temp junk being cleaned when not updated.
I was running 2.0.2 and I updated to 2.1. I had 1 gig left. While Cydia was running for the first time I powered off thinking it was locked. The iphone would not boot again! Out of desparation, I did DFU recovery using 2.1 firmware. After the QuickPwn process, I restored all my data and apps. Now I have 1.5 gig free space!
    Go figure!

It looks like it could be true if you use Cydia.

So the question now is where is the junk located to delete it?
    And what is this junk?

OK I just updated my 2G (2.01 pwned) directly to stock 2.1 using Itunes 8. Phone's working perfectly and Itunes reports same amount of free space as before...

So no need to worry I guess.
