Default [Problem] "invalid sim detected" message after QuickPwn

When running quickpwn for an iphone 2g from a 2.01 to a 2.2.1 does a sim in to be inside the iphone so that the jailbreak and unlock work?

I ran quickpwn on win vista home; everything went smoothly but an "invalid sim detected" error has come up. When I place a tmobile sim it displays bars and I am able to make calls via emergency slide but I have no interface just the globe wallpaper.

I also set auto lock to never with bootnueter

    Someone please help!

Yes, you need the SIM card inside the iPhone

BTW, title updated from "noob question". Next time try a title that actually describe your problem. That way you'll get more help

once the phone is unlocked. any SIM will work.

you went from 2.0.1 to 2.2.1 ... The only thing you need to do is run quickpwn to jailbreak & activate it. No need to unlock because the baseband does not change.

If you phone was working with 2.0.1, it should be working with 2.2.1 after quickpwn.

I'm curious about this because there is another post that says you should not have your sim card in the phone.

So my question is, when should you have your sim in the phone and when should it be left out?

Leave the SIM inside the phone (any SIM will do ... not a broken one though :-) )
That way you don't see the "no SIM" blah blah blah which will lead to more confusions.
