Baseband 4.05.04_G crashing all the time

I have an iPhone 2G 8GB that I've always had periodic baseband crashes (once a week), that seem to be getting more frequent, with the latest combo of 2.2.1 and 4.05.04_G being terrible for me. I used quickpwn to unlock 2.2.1.

So now, the baseband almost always crashes when I am downloading a bunch of data. For instance, I was purchasing a song via EDGE on the ITMS, but the baseband crashed 3x, and by that point, I was at my destination with no more cell service anyway (Go T-Mobile!). The whole thing was quite frustrating, so I am trying to figure out what is going on.

Ideas on what it could be?

Hmmm... So this is 04.05.04 and 2.2.1, this sounds weird. For me, there are 2 options. First, your baseband/bootloader is corrupted (but, it wouldn't boot, or give repair message), Second, sound like hardware failure. I also had a 2G iPhone that stopped working, we even changed the antenna and cables and we couldn't make it work.

Try to re-unlock using bootneuter, and also change your bootloader.
Also, there can also be some troubles with the cell tower you're using, have you tried in different locations?

that 04.05.04_G and fw 2.2.1 is normal.
That baseband version has not changed since fw 2.0
