Default Moving from UK to US - trying to activate on AT&T

    Hi,

I've been trying for about a week now to activate my UK iPhone (Edge, not 3G) on AT&T. I've used QuickPwn on my PC to jailbreak and unlock the phone, but whenever I put the blank AT&T SIM card into the phone, iTunes tells me that the SIM is not supported. The only way that I can get rid of the "connect to iTunes" message is to put my original O2 SIM back into the phone, which of course is not giving me my US phone number...

Side note, I am not 100% that the unlocking process has worked, as I have tried putting an Orange UK pay-as-you-go SIM in the phone and I get the same message on that SIM. However, when I put an alternate O2 SIM (not an iPhone SIM) in the phone, iTunes allows me to pull up the activation wizard.

    Here are my specifics:

    iPhone 2G running firmware 2.2
    iTunes 8.0.2.20 for XP
    QuickPwn22-1

I've tried to get help from AT&T and Apple, but of course they "don't support" any of this...although I did get one guy there to tell me what I am trying to do is TECHNICALLY possible, so I'll soldier on!

My advice to you is to restore your phone with the original O2 SIM in it, then swap it out for the AT&T SIM. Your phone will complain, but soldier on and Quickpwn your phone with the AT&T SIM in. This will activate your SIM, and all will be well. One question though-- is this a pre-pay AT&T SIM, or is the SIM's IMEI registered with AT&T? If not, it simply won't work, because AT&T registers the IMEI of its postpay SIM cards. You must do this in another phone.
