iPhone 2G – Which firmware should I choose - my iPhone 2G is "refusing" to .... ??
iPhone 2G – Which firmware should I choose ?? - my iPhone 2G is refusing to comeback from DFU mode, please read on !!!
Hi,
Perhaps I did a minor mistake that is now giving me a pain in the neck ; ) !!!
I moved to a different land and before buying my new SIM card, I wanted to repawn my iPhone 2G. As part of the process, my iPhone 2G needed to be entered in DFU mode. Well the iPhone is in DFU mode now, and I haven’t been able to get it out from there because I don’t know which of any of these firmwares I should use, because the Pwn Tool refuses to take any of the ones I have given it:
iPod and iPhone Firmware Download
The two other things I did, and perhaps part of the mistake as well, were to update iTunes to version 9.0.1 from version 8.something, and the Pwn Tool to version 3.1.4 from an early version which I don’t remember which it was.
As I have mentioned to you a bit before, I have downloaded several of these firmwares and the Pwn Tool accepts none !!!
Thank you very much in advance for all your help !!! ........ and the irony ist that the new SIM card works quite wonderfully, in spite the fact that the Telefone is in DFU mode. What I mean ist that someone sent me an SMS and I received it !!!
Thank you very much in advance, very kind regards, I await with great excitement for your response,
igmolinav.

Nothing wrong with updating to iTunes 9.0.1 and pwnagetool 3.1.4 is fine if you want to run OS 3.1.2, you need to download an older version of pwnagetool if you want to run an older version of the iPhone OS. You can get older versions of pwnagetool from iphonedev - TPB
What iPhone OS were you running before?

Hello Olethros,
Thank you very much for your answer : ) !!! That is the big question. I was a fool to go ahead and to download all those updates and now I don't even remember the versions I had. Unfortunately, I dont remember which version I had for the iPhone, and neither for the pwn tool.
I'll try the pwnage tool version 2.2.1 and let you know what happens !!!
Thank you again, very kind regards,
igmolinav.

Hello Otheros,
I have tried the Pwnage Tool cersion 2.2.1 and it didn't work. i don't remembes either which iPhone OS I had. I was really crazy about getting the latest version because as I understood, I could typewrite horizontally instead of only vertically.
Is there a pwnage tool version you would recommend me to start with and/or an ipsw version as well ??
Thank you very much, very kind regards,
Ignacio.

Follow this guide.iClarified - iPhone - How to Unlock/Jailbreak Your iPhone 2G on OS 3.1.2 Using PwnageTool (Mac) When asked, say you have never pwned the iPhone before. Make sure the iPhone is in DFU mode (screen will be black)
You should be fine.
It does not matter what OS you are running now.

Hi,
Thank you again : ) !!! The problem is when at the end of the whole process, the pwn tool wants to get my iPhone into DFU mode. However, that is the main problem because my iPhone is already in DFU mode since the very beginning of the process, but the pwn tool is unable to recognize that. Therefore, the process can not be finished !!!
On the other hand, I already have the custom restore ispw made by the pwn tool, but iTunes does not want to recognize my iPhone. iTunes either tells me that the SIM card my iPhone has is not valid, or that it needs to have a SIM card inserted.
Thank you very much, very kind regards,
igmolinav.
