    Hi!
is your 2G officially unlocked by a provider or did you have to jailbreak and unlock?
and if you used quickpwn for jailbreak and unlock, did you tick the "unlock" in quickpwn?
here is a link for good tutorials to restore (maybe you should try to restore to 2.2.1 once more) and jailbreak/unlock: iClarified - Tutorials - iPhone
find the right one for you iphone and check for the correct firmware-version to use in quickpwn.
did the restore to 2.2.1 yesterday (thanks DEV-team), had no problems with jb/ul, all working ok

another thing you can try is, to reset the network settings:
    go to: settings/general/reset/reset network settings

    sometimes that helps

Default Same issue, but able to get wifi back. Still No Service

    I had the same problem.

When I upgraded from Ziphone'd 1.1.4 to 2.2.1 using QuickPwn 2.2.5 I lost both my wifi and mobile network.

I did a restore, ran QuickPwn 2.2.5 again, and then launched Cydia. Cydia asked me to select a wifi network and this time I was able to get wifi back.

Wifi continues to work, but I still have no cell phone.

At first showed only one bar of service, with no carrier select option in Settings-->Phone.

Now says "No Service" at top left of screen.

Settings-->General-->About have shown this since upgrade:

    Network Not Available
    Carrier (null) (null)
    Version 2.2.1 (5H11)

I just solved the problem by running Pwnage Tool according to the iClarified instructions.

You guys might instead first try to fix it by downloading and running BootNeuter via Cydia, but Pwnage worked for me. Thanks iPhone Dev team!

One more note: When upgrading from 1.x to 2.2.1 it is always recommended not to use iTunes "restore data from a backup" but choose "setup as a new iPhone".
If the iPhone worked at fw 1.x I'd always recommend to DFU restore to Apple firmware 2.2.1 first, then use PwnageTool 2.2.5 or Quickpwn 2.2.5 and "setup as a new iPhone".
This way you get rid of old prefs and stuff. think of it as going from Windows XP to Vista or from Mac-OS 10.4 to 10.5: A clean install is always a good start.

That's true... For me, whenever there is an update available, I will always DFU restore to newer firmware version. Just download the ipsw file separately and shift key restore. It's a good practice. Haha...

    Cheers~~
