Upgraded my my iPhone to 2.1 this weekend. I used a CFW to do it. Everything works on my iPhone, but I had experiences of a system freeze and had to do DFU to get it operating again. Also, Safari will jump off every now and then. I note that the problem seems to be when there are too many applications in use at the same time; Wifi, iPod, Safari.

don't use a CFW.
Just DFU restore the phone with original 2.1 fw. After that, use quickpwn and you should be all set.

When we restore to the original 2.1>>> the baseband must get upgraded and when we run quick pwn it sets up bootnueter to downgrade it and then unlock it again RIGHT?

now isnt it safer if you already have an unlocked phone to just create a custom fw with winpwn and tell it not to change the baseband at all and upgrade to 2.1 . See this way ( AS I UNDERSTAND IT) we dont have to tamper with the baseband/bl in any way and still have an unlocked phone. ( please correct me if i am wrong..as i have'nt practically tried this as i am still waiting on my new commboard to arrive)

I may be being over paranoid here as i am a victim of not setting autolock to never before running bootnueter (this was during the first releases of winpwn ) and ending up with a 1011 error.

Thanks dtube, but outside of sometimes "freeze" everthing is Aok. I decided to stay with the CFW and "play" with Cydia, iTunes App store, etc. BTW: Winterboard is cool too. I waiting for FW 2.2 then I will forego the route of CFW.

Man, do I miss some of the old apps.

Never EVER forget this again!!! Many hours of frustration were experienced on my part simply due to this error before the days of iLiberty and Winpwn etc. Remember Anysim 1.1 and 1.2??


Well back then you had to do everything manually. One mistake like forgetting autolock meant hours of having to virginize reinstall 1.0.2 then work your way back up to 1.1.1 then back up to 1.1.3 or 1.1.4

Great way to stay up late on a work night

IMO: I think FW 2.2 is more like 1.14; more stable.
