I'm new at this and I want to update my 2g iphone to 2.2.1
The firmware is at 2.1 at the moment and was pwned using PwnageTool for mac
What i want to know and can't seem to find is will I lose the unlock when I upgrade and will I have to pwn again to unlock I dont mind not having cydia etc or a jailbreak iphone I just want it un locked

What do I do

If you update to 2.2.1 it will remain unlocked & stay activated but lose the jailbreak and all 3rd party apps.

If you restore it will still remain unlocked but you will need to activate again with Quickpwn or pwnagetool & this will also jailbreak & reinstall Cydia/Installer at the same time.

really? mine unlocks and de activates even if i update from firmwares.. maybe because i am not in a official iphone country

"update" in iTunes will retains all your settings/apps. Unlock remains as long as baseband does not change. You will loose the jailbreak. You will loose activation if not on official carrier.
