HELP!! - The iPhone could not be restored ERROR
Hi,
I've got an urgent problem which needs sorting out asap.
I'm currently on 1.1.4 and i want to go onto 2.1 using Quickpwn.
I've updated to iTunes 8 and when i press shift-restore in iTunes i select the 2.1 restore file and it extracts the file. After the phone goes into DFU mode and in iTunes its trying to be it into restore mode but its already doing that and i receive an error
'The iPhone could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (1602)'.
Then im forced to hold the home and power button for 15 seconds to get back to square one.
I've tried it 6 times and the same problem.
I've installed iTunes again and rebooted the machine a number of problems.
Need help big time - anyone been in this situation before or know the solution.
Thanks

instead of shift+restore just use Restore option from itunes.
it will restore to FW2.1 without any errors.

just like directed by duck9000 just completely remove itunes...
(if using windows delete the music folder is my documents
and delete the Apple computer folder in :
c:\documents and settings\username\applications data\apple computer
be sure to copy your restore file or u may have to download it again....
remove all apple mobile support ...reboot and then reinstall...
and you'll be ready to restore you iphone..
good luck...
iphone 2g at 3.0 using unofficial sim
