ok ...i read the iseminar pdf files (both advanced and beginers guide) but i dint find any answer to what i wanted ..

see before everybody talked about winpwn being the better choice as it doesnt actually do anything directly to the iphone ...u just do what ever you want to the custom fw and load it to the iphone ...

but Quickpwn on the other hand does stuff directly to the iphone and the baseband will have to be changed ( downgraded and unlocked) every time a restore to 2.1 is made.

now as i have been a victim of corrupt bb/bl because i forgot to set autolock to never before using bootnueter ..i am a lil afraid of messing with the baseband ...

please tell me what you guys think of all this...

sorry if i have come out to be a bit tooo paranoid...

    thanks

Both Winpwn and Quickpwm (and PwnageTool for Mac) need Bootneuter to unlock.
We are talking old 2G iPhone, right? The baseband is not downgraded when using one of those programms.

My advice would be to DFU restore to Apple firmware 2.1 then use Quickpwn 2.1 (Windows). It does the complete job.

    Let me add some info:

    - winpwn needs bootneuter to work. supports firmware up to 2.0.2. It builds custom firmware and you restore the custom fw via itunes.

    - quickpwn for windows supports fw up to 2.1. It builds everything on the fly and applies it to the phone. It also unlock.

    - quickpwn for mac supports fw up to 2.1. It builds firmware on the fly and applies to the phone without using itunes. It does not unlock so you need to install bootneuter afterward.

    - pwnagetool supports fw up to 2.1. It allows flexiblity and it builds custom firmware. You need to use itunes to restore the custom firmware to the phone. It can or cannot unlock based on your choice. It can or skip baseband update based on your choice. This tools offer pretty full flexibility but also more difficult to use (mostly the DFU mode or Restore mode). But if you are good at DFU/Restore mode, it should be a breeze.

My choice is quickpwn mac/windows on iphone 2G.
On iphone 3G, I use pwnagetool to avoid the baseband update

    Hi everybody,sorry to interrupt here,

anyway, this info give me sometg about quickpwn etc..
    but got question here:
    1) what is the baseland?why we cant simply go and mess it with?
    2) i reformat my 2g iphone with DFU,later quickpwn with 2.2..everytg was good, except it was the 1st time i see BootNeuter icon..but it cant be opened..so,i reformat again, and this time the icons didnt showed up.but eveytg i reformat seems like the bootneuter works in automode..then,my iphone showed "no service" and no wi-fi...any ideas?

    thanks so much..
