Default Bootneuter hangs / freezes AFTER detecting current settings

I have seen only a few people having this issue on an unlocked 2G trying to get it restored to factory settings in order to send it back to apple for repairs and such, but nobody mentions how they managed to solve this problem. Basically, after pwning/quickpwning the phone, and installing bootneuter, it seems to find the current settings (4.6, neutered, unlocked = true. Fakeblank = false) and it just freezes with a glowing circle around the center of the phone for a few minutes until it finally reboots back to normal. All functions on the phone work just fine (wifi, calls, etc) but I am stuck unable to undo the unlock. Could anyone please shed some light on this? I only have a few more days before my warranty expires.

try DFU restoring to 2.2, run quickpwn to jailbreak/activate, then install bootneuter from cydia. When u have removed the unlock, again DFU restore to remove the jailbreak.

    Hope this helps.

    cheers

I had this exact same problem with bootneuter on my 2G

I restored a few times but every time I got the same problem

I finally fixed it by downgrading back to 1.1.4 then using kiphone to downgrade by baseband as well.

Then I DFU restored back to 2.2 firmware and bootneuter started working again.

So I guess the problem was in my baseband

Thank you all for your replies. I was going crazy with this and this is like a little light at the end of the tunnel. I remember seeing some previous posts on how to restore back to 1.1.4 with itunes 7.5 so I'll give that a shot. I've never used kiphone before so I'll browse around and look for it as well. The only thing I've heard is that is a spin-off from ziphone, which has a reputation on its own (not in a good way) but hopefully that'll get me going. Any words of wisdom on what to look out for while using kiphone? Thank you so much once again. I'll be coming back for more tomorrow

    +99 to n350z!

i was facing the exact -SAME- problem. Quickpwn does not unlock automatically, no carrier and bootneuter hangs with a halo right after the detection of settings.

kiphone fixed the problem for me. But i had lots problem with the windows version of kiphone.

Moved over to the OSX version and it was able to downgrade sucessfullly.

Right after the downgrade, i was able to see my operator logo in 1.1.4 activate in itunes mode.

After that its the usual DFU upgrade to 2.2.2, then quickpwn, then bootneuter.

My story with this gets stranger

After I got my self running on 1.1.4 with the 04.04.05_G baseband I installed bootneuter2.0 and everything worked fine
I could flashed the unlock change the bootloaders etc perfectly.

using bootneuter2.0 I set everything to the off position & then restored my phone to 2.2 again.

I then run Quickpwn, installed bootneuter2.1 from cydia and the dame freeze came back

Running out of ideas I used a custom 2.2 firmware to restore with, afterward bootneuter2.1 automatically
started and preformed the unlock successfully.

So I'm now thinking the problem was related to permissions from installing bootneuter with Cydia & not my baseband after all

i skipped the step to use bootneuter to relock in 1.1.4. maybe that the reason i see slightly different results from you.

after running kiphone, its was unlocked with 04.04.05 baseband. and from then it, its touch and go.

Man, this iphone situation is killing me!

I've researched so many times about 2.0 going to 1.1.4 and I've tried a bunch of them too, but alas without any successes.

simic, how did you end up going to 1.1.4 from 2.2? (Do you remember your detailed process?)

At one point, I got so scared that I completely destroyed my iPhone when I was using itunes 7.5 and trying to restore to 1.1.4 and getting error 1604!

As a last ditch effort, I tried to restore it to 2.2 again (stock) and it worked! Now I'm back to the drawing board...

i just followed the following tutorial for downgrading. (www.iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=1504)

After a sucessful downgrade to 1.1.4, itunes will report a 1015 error. (thats becoz it failed to downgrade the baseband, dont worry about that)

Your phone will remain stuck in restore mode, but its actually 1.1.4 ready.

Just use iliberty+ or similar tools to kick it back to the activation screen.

From there, i used osx version of kiphone to forcefully downgrade baseband to 04.04.05 (baseband in 1.1.4 fw). (www.iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=1536) It detected that it was in activation mode and it auto kicked it back to restore mode.

Afterwards the phone rebooted and u will see a whole bunch of console messages that its flasing the NOR etc...

When its done, u will get back the activation screen. The baseband is unlocked at this point. if you have a valid sim in the phone, you will get the signal bar + carrier name on the top left.

From here, i just did the home+power combo to go to DFU mode and then restore the standard 2.2 fw.

This will relock your baseband as the 2.x contains a baseband update. then quickpwn. then cydia to pull down bootneuter and unlock.

    Sounds good, simic.

I'm gonna try that now. Peculiarly enough, when I was trying it before, I was getting 1604 errors. Eep!

Can't hurt to retry, I guess.
