Never had this experience. I dont want to interfere with the Dev Teams recommendations, but as far as I have seen the process many times it only works without a glitch when CC gets unloaded...
I will check a few more things on that.

Personally, I never let anything run automatically.
That is why I never check the "unlock" box in quickpwn.
I only jailbreak the phone, then use Cydia to download bootneuter 2.1 to the phone and run it manually.
That bootneuter 2.1 hanging happened to me twice.
In both cases, after the iphone is rebooted, i manually turn airplane=on (basically unload commcenter), wait, then airplane=off, and run bootneuter again.
Bootneuter 2.1 hanging at the initial step is nothing to be afraid of because you never hit the flash button (remember to set autolock=never). Once the flash is hit, DO NOT interrupt it.
If the above does not work, you may want to leave airplane = on then run bootneuter. It will still check to see if commcenter is down which obviously IS and probably bypass the reboot. (note: I never try this, it's only a guess)

Hi dtube, I tryed your way and no go, same thing, the only way I managed to unlock both my phone and my niece was after restoring to original 2.2.5, I jailbreak with quickpwn connect to itunes added as a new phone and then I can restore to my custom ipsw made by pownage tool for 2.2.5, all went well in both phones, but bottneuter starts automatically first when phone boots unlock it and then everything runs well, thanks anyway for trying to help me and to get a solution to this problem, but I can confirm this problem with 3 different iphones.

same problem > sollution here
I had the same prob. iphone hung (?) in bootneuter after quickqwn.
That worked for me:
# dowgrade to 2.2 by just download 2.2 and restore iphone with "alt" and select 2.2.
# pwn 2.2 with latest pwn 2.2.5
# restore iphone with custom 2.2 frimware
>> phone did restart and flashed "bootneutered" the phone
ready to go.

Advanced
Array
bootneuter inside pwnage flow
i have an iphone 2G and i wanted to upgrade it from 1.1.1 to 2.2.1 so i followed the iclarified tutorial using the (older ) pwnage software 2.2.5 and the 2.2.1 ipsw. I also d'led the bootloader 3.9 and 4.6 respectively. and started the process. I even took the step of restarting my mac once I had extracted the pwnage software. Everything went quite well and quite fact actually, there were a couple of steps in the iclarified tutorial which the software just skipped, i had figured it had found the bootloader 3.9 and 4.6 files as it did not ask for them. everything went well until bootneuter 2.1 came up (by itself) now I have ready all the warnings about bootneuter so I have been very patient. it's now on the "Flashing Bootloader - do not interrupt!!!" dialogue box . It's been there for the past FOUR HOURS. Is this normal? or is this a crash?
Strangely enough, iTunes has come up and has totally recognized my iPhone. it is now asking me if I want to set it up as a new iPhone or restore from my old backup.
What should I do? Please help!!!
