I've read through just about everything on here, and now i'm more lost than ever. Just bought a second hand unlocked iphone, put my Orange PAYG sim in, and away I went. Then downloaded itunes, to put some mp3s on. Whilst connecting, and playing 3 Poker tourneys, and watching a film, a popup appeared, so I clicked on it. Yes, i'm a tool. It was a software upgrade, and, of course, my phone is now bricked. Tried a restore, but it tells me I have the wrong sim (obviously), but it also has no firmware listed. What do I need to do?
I've downloaded Pwnage, winpwn, Ziphone, but none of them seem to include a ipsw restore file. I get .img3 files, .dmg files, the bin files, etc, but no restore file. Even downloaded from the list of restore files. What am I doing wrong? Have I ******* it altogether, as I never made my own backup? I'm just lost now. Can't even work out which forum this post should be on.

Please please give me some guidance, or even which tutorial I should be following.

Use this, but you can use the 3.0.1 firmware

If you upgraded you probably upgraded to 3.0.1 firmware.
redsn0w should be able to help.

Sorry to be a pain guys. I've downloaded Redsnow and the other files from the link, unzipped them, and i've got the same problem. The file - iPhone1,1_3.0_7A341_Restore.ipsw
isn't there. So I have nothing to select at the first step? Am I being really dumb?

Have you made sure the IPSW your downloading doesn't have a .zip extension? if you have itunes installed you should see the ipsw on the desktop looking like this


If it doesn't just rename & remove the .zip extension

Thank you so so much guys. Didn't realise that the zip file wasn't a zip file, kept unzipping it. Doh! I have my phone back. You guys are the Dogs Danglies.
Now to naff it up again with some apps. He He!
