[2.1]Restore SMS
I recently QuickPwned my iPhone as there was a lot of space being taken up by "Other" due to me restoring a previous profile. Before Pwning I saved a copy of the sms.db file on my harddisk using WinSCP. Now when I try to copy it back and open it on my iPhone, it simply crashes and returns to Springboard. It creates a new blank sms.db file where I just put mine. What is going on?

SFTP into the iPhone, goto
/private/var/mobile/Library/
and delete the complete directory SMS. Start the SMS app on the iPhone then and send one sms. SFTP into the iPhone then, goto
/private/var/mobile/Library/SMS/
and replace the sms.db in there with the one you have on your PC. Once done immediately restart the iPhone (holding start/sleep -> red slider to shut off -> restart). Will work then.

Followed exactly to the word, however upon reboot it returns me to no SMSs.

It should. Did you check the file sms.db, does it contain sms? If you have Firefox running there is an add-on called SQLite Manager, install it and you can open, edit the database.
If data is in I would give it one more try. I have done this so many times it always worked for me.

After you have deleted the sms folder in /private/var/mobile/Library you need to restart your iphone the normal way (holding start/sleep -> red slider to shut off -> restart). then send the text. then go back into /private/var/mobile/Library/SMS/ and rename the sms.db file to sms.db.backup or sms.db.original incase anything goes wrong, you have that file there. then copy & paste the backed up sms.db file to the same location. Viola!

If it had been after a fresh install or restore, you wont find the file. Just send one sms and all will be created by the iPhone.

Hi there!
Ive got exactly the same problem:
1. I connect via ssh to my iPhone and overwrite my sms.db with my sms.db backup.
2. I restart my iPhone.
3. No sms at all. My sms.db backup has been overwritten with an empty sms.db.
Firmware 2.2.1.
Any ideas?

Ive just found the problem.
My backed up sms.db has been created with the iPhone FW 3.0 beta 3. And thats the problem. FW 2.2.1 or older doesnt seem to be able to read an sms.db made with FW 3.0.
Cheers
