Default And yes, it's Cydia's fault...

Guys I am sorry to say that the slowness and the crashes of the 2.0 firmware are Cydia's fault. I restored my 8GB 2G iPhone with Pwnage 2.01 and without Cydia, and all my programs work perfectly, no crashes, no slowness, even iTunes syncs much faster.

I am using my iPhone now non stop for 4 hours, and I didn't experience anything bad like I did with my previous custom 2.0 firmware that included Cydia, which I needed only for SSH in order to replace my icons anyway, something that happens just as easily with Diskaid.

So everything is as fast as 1.1.4, all the Appstore apps work fine, (DayBank wouldn't start with Cydia installed, Tuner would crash on launch most of the times), and the most important: Appstore Apps update fine, not like before that when Appstore found updates they would never finish.

Just my two cents, and waiting for Installer, (which I only going to use for Kate and Greek project).

... it also causes cancer and eats newborn babies.

I guess I am lucky one who has no symptoms like you with having Cydia installed.
When you pwn your phone, do you restore the backup? Most of people who are complaining about stability or speed of their phone restore the backup instead of setting up new iPhone.

No I didn't restore from backup, I setup as a new phone, and both times I wiped the partition with Pwnage.

Believe me, the difference in speed is phenomenal. As far as the crashes, it probably depends on the apps we are using, for example DayBank wouldn't start with Cydia, PocketMoney wouldn't update either from Appstore or from iTunes, and suddenly after playing with the phone for half an hour it would reboot it's self.

    Now everything is fine.

How do you explain people with stock iPhone 3G's that are having the same problems with iPhoneOS 2.0, and don't have Cydia?

Guys I am only writing what I have seen. I don't have anything against Cydia, but the problems that Bigboss is describing in his blog, apps fail to update, crashes, reboots, the appstore bug and stuff, are simply not present without Cydia.

For hours now I am opening and closing programs, and the phone is still as fast as when I turned it on. With Cydia installed after an hour I needed to reboot if I opened a lot of programs.

I've restored my 8GB 2G iPhone with 2.0 two times, both without Cydia.

The first restore was sluggish, the second one is working a little better... still having some problems though but nothing unbearable.
The only difference is the partition wipe, it was enabled in the second restore but not in the first one.

Personally I don't think it's Cydia's fault, many people are reporting issues even with Apple stock firmware, if it feels snappier without Cydia I think it's *mainly* due to the "placebo effect" of a freshly restored phone.
Give it a few days and I believe it's going to work a little worse than before.

Hmm, I just don't know what you people are doing...
But exactly that's the main problem of all the people whining about blablabla...
They don't know what they are doing...

Never had any problems with any pwnage, now works perfectly with 2.0 AND Cydia, no battery drain, no slowness, no whatever... works just perfect, and I did it on all kind of iPhones, several times. Did it with pwnage on mac, hackint0sh (cheap acer , that was fun ;-), xpwn on windows and linux and winpwn on XP SP2 and Vista 32bit, all work exactly as they should.

So I suggest to all having problems, get informed, learn how the stuff works or otherwise, stop complaining.
Or, if you say:"don't have time for this"...become a legit customer, and then you can blame Apple or AT&T or whatever if you messed it again.

    Cheers
