I had myself done a flawless install with Cydia installed on my iPhone, and it worked pretty damn flawlessly, until the apps from the iTunes store wouldn't work anymore. They would go to launch, and then quit. I did a fresh install without Cydia, only to have include the T-Zones Hack posted on this forum, and it seems to run snappier. I notice it mostly when I go into the Settings, and Phonebook. Other than that it appears to run the same. And I must say, the battery lasts a good deal longer. I'm using the same settings as I had before, and I'm getting almost double the length in battery time. But that is obviously usage differences too.

Just wanted to share my experience.

The only problem I'm currently having is that my youtube application will only work with WiFi. Anyone know why it won't work with EDGE? Everything else works as it should.

Well after a day with the non-Cydia setup, I can honestly say I have no crashes, no instability, all apps working fine, and I compared the speed of my 2G 8GB iPhone with my wife's who has exactly the same phone but with Cydia installed, and the difference in speed is huge, even in opening the Settings program by tapping at the same time both phones.

In both cases I used Pwnage 2.01, and wiped the partition, and used bootloader 4.6.
On my phone I did my usual hacks, (icon, plist and carrier png changes), using the Diskaid program for the Mac, (which I wished I knew about before).

That's all, one day later no problems, no crashes, no hangs, no reboots, no failed Appstore updates, and very good speed equal to 1.1.4.

Also I do believe the problems with Cydia lay with the relocation of the Applications, which is something it does by itself without asking, and it's also useless nowadays when you can specify the root partition size with Pwnage. Another thing I don't get although I am not a Unix expert, is why I need to have a library installed through Cydia which is called "Tape Backup", and when I try to uninstall it says that it's required by the system...

Does anyone here who is for Cydia know what exact files are installed and where?

People that say that they installed Cydia and have no problems, give it a day, haha. My wife's phone started perfect and fast and now a week later is almost useless, exactly like mine before the Cydialess restore.

Even with the TZones hack from BigBoss? My memory could be wrong here, but I thought I was able to access the YouTube player over EDGE with this hack installed.

    Are you working for Apple?

As said more than once here and all over this forum and all over the internet: legit 3G customers without any Cydia or non-allowed installation whatsoever report exactly the same issues with slowing down the iPhone like hell.
It is a firmware 2.0 issue.

Find more details and links to Apple's discussion forum here:

No I am not working for Apple my friend, and it doesn't matter if you feed me links till the second coming, I know what I see with the two iPhones I have in front of me, one with Cydia and one without.

Are you developing for Cydia maybe? Then you can answer my questions, where is an exact list of files that are installed with Cydia, why it doesn't let users choose if they want their Application folder moved, and what the hell is a tape backup library doing in the essential system software.

In fact let's try the following, try to install and run Daybank from Appstore, or update any application from within the iPhone Appstore application.
Or run 1password for 10 times.

    Can you do it? Nop.

    I sure can...

    Hey Stefidar

Can Diskaid be used to edit .plists? I installed Cydia for the OpenSSH so I could disable EDGE but if I can do that with Diskaid then Ill install a fresh 2.0 without Cydia. I know you can open .plists with Diskaid in notepad, but I dont think it saves any changes made like OpenSSH does.

    Much appreciated!
