Default [winPwn] repair needed issue - almost solved

    Hi there,

iPhone 1.1.2 OTB - 1.1.4 right now - completely useless last 2 months

I had the infamous Repair Needed problem, for the last two months and tried out WinPwn just yesterday.

    I did the following:

iPwned the phone, then build a custom IPSW including:

    - neutered Bootloader
    - unlocked Baseband
    - Installer
    - BSD Subsystem
    - Stumbler

I "recovered" my iPhone with that IPSW in iTunes and it turned out to work fine.

Except, that its like the phone "loses" contact to the SIM. A part of a second i have no service and then its like i put in the SIM right before and i have to unlock the SIM again.
I even got rid of this after changing Boot and Recovery Image afterwards.

The Phone worked for about 13 hours without problems and then i put it back to Recovery Mode (just to watch the nice new image) and kicked it back to Normal Mode with iLiberty. Still everything fine.

I set my alarm clock for the next morning and went to bed, of course i got up late because no alarm clock went off. The iPhone says again "Repair Needed".

Should i try Neuter once again? Any ideas?

I had exactly the same problem one day... the iPhone lost contact with the SIM card and I had to unlock the SIM again too. And then it worked for a few minutes and I had to unlock the sim over and over again. Then I disabled the PIN becouse I was tired of having to unlock the SIM every few minutes and left the phone for a few hours. The next thing I saw on the phone was the "Repair Needed". When I got home I took the SIM out of the phone and cleaned it with alcohol... since that it works like a charm for almost two months.

I have tried the cleaning SIM advice, no change. I also tried to restore in DFU like 20 times and the repair needed message comes over and over again. I tried every single solution on hackintosh for this problem but still no success.

I'm afraid that there is a hardware issue but on the other hand, why is it working for at least a few hours?!

If i check "Neuter Bootloader 3.9/4.6", which one will be on the 1.1.2 OTB phone then?
    BL 3.9 or 4.6?

it's a problem with the baseband. So it's not possible to determinate if the problem is the comm-board phisically or the software.
You can try to upgrade your baseband to the new fw 2.0 and hope it resolves the problem before try to use the test-point trick.
This solutions are for the 'software' problem. For the hardware problem there isn't anything else to do that try to change the board.

I know it is a baseband problem, also i upgraded to new fw 2.0 beta with 1011 error message. I cant even erase baseband since garbage scrolls on my screen continuosly without stopping...dont know what to do. can you suggest any other 2.0 beta versions i could restore to without error?

Im having the same problem! I pwned the phone then restored to custom ipsw with itunes. Got error 1011 message then bootneuter started and got stuck at determining current settings. Let me know if you have get a solution and i will let you know if i do. I think we should wait for the new 2.0 version and then pwn it with that version. It might work...

so i suggest the test-points trick.
Load on the phone the 1.0.2 fw and the file for erase the baseband. Do the erase of the baseband with the testpoint trick and the iunew (or ienew, i don't rembember, check the file that you had download and the guide), leave the phone powered-on and restore to 1.1.2.
