WinPwn 0.99.2.19: Is this normal?
Hi all,
I tried pwning my phone with the previous beta release of WinPwn a few days back, and managed to make it quite unhappy
After an hour or so of trying, I managed to get it restored and told myself I not try again until it was out of beta.
So along comes 0.99.2.19 and I couldn't resist.
Things were going well, I'd built the image and flashed it, and my iPhone was booting. Then, like a muppet, I accidentally clicked to restore my backup and the phone died again.
I tried to restore my custom firmware, and kept getting an error -10. Is this normal? My understanding was that once pwned, I should be able to flash as many custom firmwares as I like unless I flash an official release again, which will undo the pwnage, yes?
So any explanation as to the error -10? Was it just so fubar after restoring the backup that it needed an official firmware? Should I try again
Cheers all.

You can't restore your backup until AFTER it has finished restoring so I don't see how that can be the cause of your problem.
I would DFU restore to 1.1.4 and start over. If you computer can detect the iPhone still then you can download iLiberty to put the phone into DFU mode using the button on there rather than messing about to do it manually.
I don't know how you can "make your phone unhappy" using pwnage - if you do it correctly it should work perfectly unless of course you used the applications downloader and it didn't work properly and thus causes issues when you booted up (in which case manually download applications after the phone is working!).

FW 1.0.2--> iUnlock--> iPhoneSIMfree--> 1.1.1 --> 1.1.2--> Soft upgrade 1.1.3 --> 1.1.4 using signal.app
iPhone UK 16GB
FW 1.1.3 OOB --> 1.1.4 --> iPlus 1.2 unlocked!

OK, by "unhappy" I mean "used an iPod touch firmware, not an iPhone firmware"
I can haz brainz?
It's all fine now. I managed to get it back up and running after that incident.
I tried again, with a totally working phone, earlier, using the latest version. That's what I was describing. I'm back up and running again now using iPlus on 1.1.4.
I'm just tempted to try WinPwn again, but wanted to make sure my understanding was correct: that I should be able to flash any custom firmware I like after I've pwned my phone (unless I've flashed an official firmware, which undoes the pwnage).

Exactly right.
It unbelievable how many people are flashing iPod firmware onto their iPhones.
Not only does the restore file say "iPod" or "iPhone" in it BUT winpwn actually says "BE sure to connect an iPod (if you selected iPod firmware) or iPhone (if you selected iphone firmware)"
It unbelievable how such a simple process can be made so complicated by some people not paying attention!

Yes, I apologise, I'm an idiot
Funny thing is, I'm really not. I'm extremely tech savvy, and a programmer for a living. But I think that's the problem: I maybe don't read every prompt, because I think I know better, and get bitten from time to time.
I appreciate the responses. And thanks for the confirmation Spinstorm, I'm going to give it another go tomorrow.

Most of the car accidents happen on daily routine (way to work or back home).
People are so used about that they pay less attention.
