    Exclamation Updating to 2.0.1 FAQ

    Hi everyone.

    There seems to be a confusion about what can be done and what not.

    FOR iPhone 2G:

    Can I update to 2.0.1 with pwned iPhone?
    If you pwned your iPhone with a custom 2.0 and have 04.05.04 as baseband,
    go ahead and update using iTunes, you can do this safely, just Cydia and
    all unofficial apps will be removed, but everything will be working OK.

    Can I update a 1.1.4 with pwned iPhone?
    No. You have to be first on pwned 2.0 to be able to update without losing
    the activation/unlock.

    Can I restore to 2.0.1
    No. DO NOT restore to 2.0.1 if you are not on an official carrier, doing this will
    result on an unactivated iPhone until the 2.0.1 jailbreak comes out, or until
    you return to 2.0.

    Is 2.0.1 going to update the baseband?
    Depending.
    If you are updating/restoring from 1.1.4, yes it will update to 04.05.04.
    If you are updating/restoring from 2.0, no, the baseband will stay the same,
    this is where the update applies for unlocked iPhones.

    Can I install Cydia again in 2.0.1?
    You'll have to wait until the jailbreak comes, this would mean an update to the
    current pwnage tool.

    Is my data going to be erased?
    No, it won't be erased, there were some isolated issues where the multimedia
    content disappeared, but this was fixed erasing the iPhone from the general
    menu, and syncing it again

    Can I return to 2.0 or 1.1.4 if I updated/restored to 2.0.1
    Yes, just restore again to your custom 2.0 firmware, as baseband remains
    the same, it will be ok. If you get error 6, downgrade using iTunes 7.5.
    If you plan to stay on 1.1.4, I recommend you to downgrade the baseband.
    There is a detailed link on page 2.

    When is pwnage Tool going to be updated to work with 2.0.1
    on iPhone 2G/iPod Touch?

    There is no time frame. As Dev-Team says, it will be out when it is ready
    and 100% tested.

    When will a new PwnageTool be released that supports OS 2.0.1 on iPhone 2G/iPod Touch?
    :::insert answer here:::

    (waiting somewhat patiently for above answer...)

    Oh, I thought of one more:

    Once PwnageTool is out for OS 2.0.1, will an already Pwned OS 2.0 phone be able to 'update' to the custom firmware from iTunes, or will it always require DFU/complete restore?
    :::insert answer here:::

    Sorry, yeah, it's 2G. Great, thanks. I noticed it had been answered below as well. I'm going to take the plunge.. is it possible to downgrade to 2.0 if it goes wrong?

    I've been experimenting with that today I've been on 2.0 then 2.0.1, I'm now (after a few bugging problems) back on 1.1.4 otb

    So yes you can downgrade again.

    How do you find out what baseband version you have?

    Look in setting / general / about at the modem firmware

    2.0.1(2G) = 04.05.04_G
    2.0(2G) = 04.05.04_G
    1.1.4 = 04.04.05_G
    1.1.3 = 04.03.13_G
