Finally got my phone JB and unlocked but EDGE won't work. I unlocked with ultrasn0w. 3G works great and everyone else around me can use the 2G/EDGE network. Any ideas?

As i said in the other thread. Some carriers never rolled out an EDGE network. Some carriers began with a 3G only network. Others went straight from GPRS (displayed as an O in the same place where you would expect to see E for edge or 3G for 3G data) to 3G.

Are you sure your friends are using the same network operator as you?

It could also be incorrect carrier bundle. Or a hardware issue. You'd need to specify the carrier/operator before we can help more.

Ha. Positive. I am a Peace Corps Volunteer in Malawi, Africa. Only two carriers to speak of; TNM and Airtel/Zain. TNM is what all three of us are using.
I never had this issue in America before my phone was JB/Unlocked. I could access the EDGE network but I am just guessing it is indeed a hardware issue. There are a handful of other volunteers with other issues with their JB/Unlocked phones here though too. Thanks.

The carrier claims to support EDGE, so it's probably a hardware issue - or an issue with your SIM card.

I'd swap SIM cards with someone else who is on the same network to test and see -- sure, you may have to re-activate, etc., but it will give you a good idea as to what the problem really could be.
