Default Unable to do factory restore after pwnage...

I had previously pwned my iPhone with pwnagetool 1.0 and installed the previous 2.0 beta with no problem. After some issues with the beta, I restored 1.1.4, also with no problem.

With pwnagetool 1.1, I ran iPwner on 1.1.4 so I would be able to install thr beta and then pwned the 2.0 beta 3 firmware and attempted to install it on my 1.1.4 phone. The firmware update process never got off the ground - it stalled on the apple logo and eventually failed. This left the phone stuck in recovery mode.

I then tried to restore to 1.1.4, and this got through the restore process but ended with an error code and left the phone in recovery mode again. I was able to get it out of recovery mode by using ZiPhone's jailbreak. I am still not able to restore to 1.1.4 or install any pwned firmware made with the 1.1 pwnagetool. Restoring with DFU mode also results in the phone being stuck in recovery mode, regardless of the version of firmware uses and regardless if its a factory ipsw file or a pwned ipsw file.

Anybody have any clues about how I should go about bringing this phone back to a factory 1.1.4 install? The phone is an original release iPhone with the original bootloader (not 4.6).

I have gotten errors 1015 and 1064, and I've only tried 1.1.4 and 2.0b3. 2.0b3 actually restored and worked, but of course wouldn't activate.

Did you actually restore using a 1.1.4 custom firmware first BEFORE going up to 2.0?

as you said you restored back to 1.1.4 and then ipwned and went straight to 2.0...

And why would it not activate? Please don't tell me your another one of those that doesn't
read the FAQ and thinks that their phones will work without activation on a developers ONLY
beta when they are not developers!

try putting it on DFU mode insted of restore mode.
Also, always set you phone as a ''new phone'' on iTunes

I would appreciate a little respect - I have read the FAQ, as I have obviously stated "of course it would not activate"; I know it will not activate without being an official member of the developer program, unless you've created a custom firmware with it already activated. No need to treat me like a jackass - I know the phone will not work without activation, and I know beta means beta, as I've been beta testing software and hardware in some capacity for the past 12 years. I do not need a lecture.

All I want is to get back to a factory restored condition. Anyways, back to your inquiry - went 1.1.4, ipwned, restored using a custom 1.1.4 firmware, then attempted an upgrade to 2.0b3 (custom). Phone froze on the apple logo during the upgrade, and gave a 1015 error code. Restored factory 1.1.4, gives an error (either 1064 or 1015), and reboots back to the recovery mode screen. Attempted a 2.0b3 (factory) restore just for the hell of it; it works, but is useless for obvious reasons.

From the recovery mode screen from a factory restored 1.1.4, I am able to get the phone into working condition by using ZiPhone's jailbreak/activate feature. However, even from this working condition, I cannot simply just restore the 1.1.4 firmware, as it will just lead back to an error and the recovery screen.

DFU mode results in the same; I will have a seemingly successful restore to 1.1.4, and it will error at the reboot; I do not even get the opportunity to restore from a backup because the phone will reboot into recovery mode and stay there until I activate/jailbreak with ZiPhone.

Call me crazy - but this does not seem like normal behavior.

yeah error 1015 happens with all downgrades if you are downgrading to an OS earlier than the baseband. iTunes can't erase the baseband during a downgrade, so it gives you an error. the good news is, though, that iTunes did successfully downgrade the OS. So you have 1.1.4 and the 2.0baseband. If you then pwn your bootloader you can just use bbupdater to flash back the 1.1.4 baseband

    Well caught!

When you upgraded back to the 2.0 Beta you updated your baseband and itunes will ALWAYS error out at the end.

You need to restore back to 1.1.4.

When you get the error simply open up ziPhone and CLICK ON BOOT IN NORMAL MODE - not jailbreak.

If Ziphone doesn't have it then use Independence which automatically boots it or iLiberty+ which has the same function on the advanced menu.

Then you have to jailbreak the phone and add iclarified to the installer source (if its not there already) and install the 1.2 baseband remover.

Run it and delete you baseband then restore again to 1.1.4 and it will boot up as new!

I was able to finally get it, but unfortunately it was before you posted step by step instructions... lol. I couldn't figure out why I wasn't able to erase the baseband and then just happened to stumble upon the 1.2 baseband remover while doing a little googling.

But needless to say, that was exactly what I had to do!
