I'm just having one issue though, the Caller ID fix works wrong, because if I have a cell with number 9323-6622 and another with number 8323-6622 shows that is the same person, and the same happens with (02) 123-4567 and (032) 123-4567. The problem is that landlines have less numbers than cells, so I don't know if there is a general solution for this.
Actual setting in CallerID Fix for Chile is Last 6 Digits Match ,
but probably should be Last 8 Digits Match if for calls from
mobiles to landlines area code must be used (and is always received) ,
    this is the updated patch

    save original file:
    /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/AppSupport.framework/Default.phoneformat
    substitute with:
    RapidShare: Easy Filehosting

    and restart.

Works perfect with mobiles, but there is only one issue:

Landlines still have the problem that (02) 123-4567 gets the same id as (032) 123-4567 but well, guess I can live with that.

Caller ID fix can be edited only to last X numbers match without special cases right?

Anyway, it works much better than before, thanks!!

You can set to 9 digits , but mobile numbers are 8 digits and
saved 1234-5678 will not match with received +56 1234-5678

How to set N value manually (for expert only):

open downloaded Default.phoneformat with an Hexadecimal editor

    example: search cl

    35 36 00 00 63 6C 00 08 - 56 cl

change 08 with 09 to get last 9 digits match

    copy new file and restart.

    valid settings are: 04 , 05 , 06 , 07 , 08 , 09 , 0A

Frank8, I tested other cellphones and they seems to use the same technique to match incoming calls with the contact list (last N digits), and they use even lower digits, like 7 or 6.

So last 8 digits fix is actually the best we could get in Chile. It will fail with some landlines but at least it will work with any mobile number. And the last format fix works like a charm also

    Thanks for your work!

Last N Digits match is a fast and valid solution when the description of
the numbering of a country is not reliable or for some special cases ,
but a double match is not impossible .

If Format Fix for 2.2 seems to work correctly you can try to use same file
for Caller Id (to avoid the rare fails) .

    copy: System/Library/Frameworks/UIKit.framework/PhoneFormats/UIDefaultFormat.phoneformat
    rename to: Default.phoneformat
    substitute: System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/AppSupport.framework/Default.phoneformat
check file permissions = 644 (should already be so)
    and restart.

    Default appsupport in )S 3.0

I am on 3.0 beta 3 and unfortunately Apple still hasn't fixed the caller id issue for all countries. Ridiculous really. However happy to report the Default.phoneformat Frank8 was kind enough to write for me still works in 3.0

Now if someone could figure out a way to fix this issue without jailbreak I would send them an iphone!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Default Czech Republic

Hi I am using the Caller ID fix for 2.2.1 iPhone firmware but Czech Republic seems to be missing. I am currently located in New Zealand and when somebody call me from Czech Republic I can see the format 00 420 XXXXXX instead of +420 XXX format what I am using in my contacts.

    Thanks for a check.
    Regards, Pavel

    Update: SMSs work correctly !

This is the patch for 00 420 vs. +420 in New Zealand

    save original files:
    /System/Library/Frameworks/UIKit.framework/PhoneFormats/UIDefaultFormats.phoneformat
    /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/AppSupport.framework/Default.phoneformat

    substitute with:
    RapidShare: Easy Filehosting

    and restart .

The problem was that in a generic "Last N Digits Match" method "00" is not used as an equivalent of "+" .
The solution is to differentiate the alternative prefixes for each country .
Anyway I'm back to "All Digits Match" because I suspect that the distinction between two files , Formatting and Identification , will end soon .
The formatting is the last one for Czech Republic and the last fixed for New Zealand .

    Cheers
