    I am from Hong Kong.

    Our numbers are very simple.

    Country Code: +852
    Land & Mobile: XXXX XXXX

    However, there are some carriers that do not include the "+" for SMS that I receive. So I would get "852 XXXX XXXX". My phone is unable to pair it with numbers saved as "XXXX XXXX" and "+852 XXXX XXXX".

    In 2.1, I manually edited PhoneNumberTemplates.plist by adding the SECOND entry (First Entry is the original one)

    <key>hk</key>
    <array>
    <array>
    <string>852</string>
    <string>001</string>
    <string></string>
    <integer>0</integer>
    <integer>8</integer>
    </array>
    <array>
    <string>852</string>
    <string></string>
    <string></string>
    <integer>0</integer>
    <integer>8</integer>
    </array>
    </array>

    What Should I do with the Default.phoneformat to make the SMS ID work?

    Thanks a million in advance.
    If sometimes "+" is not included you need Last N Digits Match

    With Firmware 2.2 you can install CallerID Fix for 2.2 (Cydia Localization)
    that use Last 6 Digits Match method for Hong Kong

    if you prefer Last 8 Digits Match for Hong Kong , save original file:
    System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/AppSupport.framework/Default.phoneformat

    substitute with:
    http://rapidshare.com/files/17621038...oneformat.html

    set Hong Kong in Region Format and restart.

    Yesterday a difference of behavior occurred

    Previously in my test iPhone FW 2.2 (was without SIM) I could change the
    default international prefix through the Region Format.

    I installed "Net.-Local Number Format" from Cydia and
    all numbers in address book are gone ,
    after inserting a SIM returned and the default prefix was now +39 ,
    I uninstalled "Net.-Local Number Format" and default was always +39
    although Region Format was not Italy.

    The strange thing is that now it works as in FW 2.1 ,
    Region Format change only the format and to change
    default international prefix I have to modify
    in com.apple.AppSupport.plist the values of
    CPActiveCountryCode and CPNetworkCountryCode

    But when I turn off and on (with a SIM inserted)
    country and network values are automatically restored.

    Try this extra fix

    save original file (if present):
    /private/var/mobile/Library/Preferences/com.apple.AppSupport.plist

    for Kuwait substitute with (or copy) :
    http://rapidshare.com/files/17694747...ort.plist.html

    and restart.

    Hi FranK: I have a couple of questions for you: 1) You had given me the format fix for lebanon much earlier in this forum which i sent to my 14 year old daughter studying now in lebanon. All is ok and it works great. What happens if she installs the format fix for 2.2 from Cydia? Any drawbacks or anticipated changes?

    Recently, She asked the following of me (You....LOL) and I quote her message: "Dad, please ask Frank if he can help me. The format fix for lebanon has been working well and i have no problems. But, operator generated messages or calls are 3 digits here, for example 111 or 164 etc. So, when i am notified of a missed call, i get an operator message from 164 notifying me of the missed call. Dad, unfortunately, the formating of these 3 digit numbers is wrong. 164 appears as 1 64 with a space between; x xx instead of xxx. Also, if i dial 111 for operator assistance, it shows as 1 11 instead of 111 ; x xx instead of xxx. Can Frank help me? You know i am such a perfectionist))).....love you... Thanks Dad."

    Frank: Indeed she is a perfectionist))) If and when you have the time, I will be grateful.

    Best Regards

    1) A little difference when Format Fix for 2.2 is removed:

    When Format Fix is installed a backup copy is created , UIDefaultFormats.phoneformat.bup , if NOT already present.

    So , if you have manually substiteted file and .bup was present , when you remove Format Fix , original file is restored.
    Otherwise your file is backupped and restored when Format Fix is removed.

    2) Short numbers fix for Lebanon is here:
    http://rapidshare.com/files/18188830...oneformat.html
