And I'm checking my UIDefautltPhoneFormats.phoneformat if there is any other mistakes.

I still don't understand the 'new feature'. Would you show me the case it works?
A new byte is used (was 00) only for Caller ID match (Default.phoneformat)
    This is Brazil example:

    ( 1 , 9 , 12 , 2 , 2 , 1 , str_000 )
    str_000 (n## ##) ####-####

rule for str_000 in firmware 2.2

    (1 , 9 ---- first digit from 1 to 9
    , 12 ----- max length 12 digits
    , 2 ------ accept 2 different digits (first two) XX --- NEW !
, 2 ------ area code 2 digits may be present YY
    , 1 ------ trunk prefix n may be present
    str_000 -- use string at offset 000

    (nXX YY) ####-####

the difference between YY and XX is
YY - area code - checked only if present in saved numbers
XX - carrier selection - never checked

with an extension of XX up to 19 digits I have implemented
CallerID Fix for 2.2 v1.1 (Cydia Localization)

for example in Japan only last 7 digits are checked (TBV) for Caller ID match,
you can save as 1234567 (if valid to make a Call)
    or 01081xxxx1234567
    or 008881xxxx1234567
    or zzzzz+81xxxx1234567
    and receive +81yyyyyyy1234567

    Hi Frank,

Thanks for replying, you are probably right that en_GB set plist file for European format but I guess nobody knows where it is located so I can edit it. I can use any of your suggestions but since they are not in english I'll start learning other languages. Maybe italian would be a good start

Frank this is simple and fast. I think no need for callerid anything complex or better, but for format we need more. I did experiment with UIDefaultFormats.phoneformat by changing a long string at end #######... to somthing like (###) ###-#### and this works nice, but my international numbers (with +) not looking nice any more.

I am wondering Frank, is it possible for you to implement a idea of generic UIDefaultFormats.phoneformat file with a few (not one) format string at end of file, where user can change it to accommodate formats for his own or his country.

    Thanks, great job Frank,
    You are the man.

    Default Format for Argentina

I will try to explain a little better to make a file for all the Country.

Don't ask why, but in Argentina, we have ...

    International +54
International Cellular +549 (the 9 is because you are calling a cell phone)

You can call a cellular from Argentina with 15 before (because the caller pay), but from cell phones, you can call without the 15, because the real number is without the 15.

    Regional Area Codes

    Buenos Aires 11

    For Big Cities
    North of the Country 3xx
    South of the Country 2xx

Cellular or fixed lines xxxx xxxx

    Medium Cities
    North of the Country 3xx
    South of the Country 2xx

Cellular or fixed lines xxx xxxx

    Small Cities

    Medium Cities
    North of the Country 3xxx
    South of the Country 2xxx

Cellular or fixed lines xxx xxxx

free numbers like 0800 xxx xxxx
only pay call local 0810 xxx xxxx

With all this option you have the file in 2.0x format that I posted before.

    http://www.hackint0sh.org/forum/show...&postcount=399

To make worst the situation, Claro when implemented the Visual Voice Mail, forgot to setup the Country code, so when you have a voice message the iPhone show +xxx yyy yyyy (xxx region code, yyy yyyy phone numer) that is invalid if you try to call the phone and when you have a sms you have the complete number +54 (country code) 9 (international prefix for cell phones) xxx (region code) yyy yyyy (cell phone number).

So is needed to make a more complex file if we like that work in all the Country.

I don't have any trouble to help to make the file, but I was unable to create the file writing in hexa, may be we a little guidance I can try.

    Thanks !!!

It's very sophisticated and probably for Apple's developers
it should cover all posible cases

If in visual voice mail international prefix is omitted but + is present:
area code is interpreted as another country and formatter jump
to a wrong result , also CalleID Fix (last 7 digits match) cannot work

This is a special CallerID Fix for Macedonia
with GB and UK prefix 389 instead of 44 and last 6 digits match

    save original file:
    System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/AppSupport.framework/Default.phoneformat

    substitute with:
    http://rapidshare.com/files/17530244...oneformat.html

set UK in Region Format and restart.

    Question

Hi Frank8! This is my first post. Thanks for your contributions to the iPhone community.

    I am from Hong Kong.

    Our numbers are very simple.

    Country Code: +852
    Land & Mobile: XXXX XXXX

However, there are some carriers that do not include the "+" for SMS that I receive. So I would get "852 XXXX XXXX". My phone is unable to pair it with numbers saved as "XXXX XXXX" and "+852 XXXX XXXX".

In 2.1, I manually edited PhoneNumberTemplates.plist by adding the SECOND entry (First Entry is the original one)

    <key>hk</key>
    <array>
    <array>
    <string>852</string>

What Should I do with the Default.phoneformat to make the SMS ID work?

    Thanks a million in advance.

    Hi Frank,

Thanks for the fix I'll take a look at it. I found a solution for my problem by using Net.-Local Number Format in Cydia. So right now my numbers are formatted based on my country code and network ID instead on regional settings in my phone and it works great.
