    Hi everyone,

I really wonder if there is any solution to NOT FORMAT (skip formatting) ANY phone numbers in iOS at all?

Deleting /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/AppSupport.framework/Default.phoneformat did not work -- the dialer crashes out.
Neither worked using zero-length /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/AppSupport.framework/Default.phoneformat -- the dialer displays unknown for all calls.

I use synchronised Google contacts on my iPhone, and I'd like numbers to display in the phone book just the way they're stored on Google. There, I'm storing numbers there with my custom, manual spaces, e.g. +353 876 150 5050, and that's right the way I'd like them to look like in Contacts, and in the dialer I'd like numbers to display just the way I'm dialing them (that is +3538761505050).

Anyone, any idea if that is possible in any way? Thanks for any helpful tips.

    Hello
I'm really sorry to come here to ask someone to help me with phone formats.
I have an iphone 3G 4.2.1 (yeah...=/...) and since my country have changed the number formats, my iphone does't show them correctly anymore.
They used to be like this:

    1111-2222
    (##) 1111-2222
    (0##) 1111-2222
    +55 (##) 1111-2222
    +55 (0##) 1111-2222
*Where (##) and (0##) are the area code and +55 the country code.

But now they have add the number 9 at the beginning of the numbers (only for mobile, the home/business numbers are the same) something with the lack of available mobile numbers to sell.
Because of that, now they are displaying them like this:

    (91) 1112-222
    (##9) 1111-2222
    0119 1111-2222 *yes, without the ( ).
    +55 119 1111-2222
    +55 (01 19) 1111-2222

I have been add all these possible numbers to my contacts (like frank8 said). But my sms have each contact with 2 or 3 separated sms (the "(91),(##9) and 0119") which makes really annoying to text with them, and if someone leaves the area to work or something, I have to add them again.

Is there a way to fix this? Like I said before, I know is kind of a cliche come here to ask for this, but I tried myself (no success... I wish it was a .plist xD) and them searched over the internet, and finding this forum... which seems the only forum able to eddit this Default.phoneformat.
Long post but thanks if you are reading this and hope that someone find a way to fix this. If not...it's ok! Thx

ops there is no eddit option here to fix grammar etc... =/
    Edit:
I was cut&past the numbers and I forget to eddit the numbers examples.
The area code is 11, which is the only area that has been using the number 9. But in the coming years, pretty much all the areas will use the number 9 or probably another number too so...yeah...I should have changed that and explained this before, since I don't know if this is necessary to eddit the Default.phoneformat.

ok I just read a lot of posts here about this and this is the phone formats that I need:

The new format for mobiles phones in Brazil:
(only one city is currently using it, but eventually all cities will use this too)

    ####-#### (4x4 numbers, for home;office;business;others areas)
    (##) ####-####
    (0##) ####-####
    +55 (##) ####-####
    +55 (0##) ####-####
#####-#### (5x4 numbers, for the new numbers)
    (##) #####-####
    (0##) #####-####
    +55 (##) #####-####
    +55 (0##) #####-####

Sorry to post about this again (sorry mods), but since I can't eddit the posts and I didn't find a mod to pm...
    Thank you guys!

Which iphone ver. do you have?
A few months ago, I used one of the frank8 files for the ios 6.X on my 4.2.1 to see if it would fix my problem (the ios 5.x;6.x already does have the new phone format for my country), but well...it didn't. BUT it did exactly what you wanted: it just displayed the numbers withouth formating them (no - () space, etc.).

For Brazil with old iOS 4.x
    Save original file:
    /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/AppSupport.framework/Default.phoneformat
    substitute with:
    http://rapidshare.com/share/75A2D06D...B0238289CAB02C
    check file permissions = 644 (owner:rw- group:r-- world:r--) should already be
    and restart.

  6. Thanks sissel77 thanked for this post.

I'm really happy now! This is the first thing I bought with my own money so I'm kind of attached to this iPhone....
You could post this on cydia with your others fixes. You are an awesome guy for doing this for such a long time! I (we) really appreciate it!

Thank you Frank8 and also this forum! Now I can focus on my acer/hackintosh thing!

Hmmm, thanks, sissel77, interesting as it may seem. Cannot figure out, however, what might have caused this side effect of yours. More so since I am already on 6.1.2 (iPhone 4). Need to have a think. Anyone any ideas?

From iOS 5.x no major changes have occurred in Default.phoneformat, so the same file should still work with 7.x
