Hi Frank, i already have the default.phoneformat file, i taken it from my wife iphone. but I still stuck at the changing process of the om.apple.AppSupport.plist file, each time I reboot the phone, it will change back to the default value.

Sorry, I have no idea on how to prevent the system from changing the file after reboot and why sometimes does not happen.

It's ok Frank, it seems there is no solution for this, but I can live with it. Thank you for your reply.

Just updated from 5.01 to 6.1 today and had hope that the 5.x fix would work but seems like it's not for me.
I live in Reunion Island (code must be RE or RUN, or something like that) and on 5.01 everything was working like a charm. But here is what happens now:
If i don't apply the fix: it shows all numbers when i recieve phone call or sms (even while i have those contacts in my address book). Phone format is also wrong: it's ##########.

If i apply the 5.x fix: it now formats number like it should: #### ## ## ##but:
-when recieving a phone call: name is displaying (so it's good)
-when recieving a sms: name is displaying as well (good)
-When goind to read the sms: no name,just number: +262 #### ## ## ##

Can you help me please? it's really painfull to never know from which contact the sms is from if i don't see it on lock screen And i really don't want to add +262 in front of each phone number in my address book (don't even know if it would work anyway)
Here are some infos:

Dial codes: +262,+692,+693

Reunion Island is part of a complicated trick to merge French prefix and the French overseas departments prefixes.
If you see the name on lock screen pop-up the trick still works.
Your problem may be due to a new interaction between the message-app and address book, or a wrong interpretation of old data stored in memory.
Try with an SMS from a new number (without a previous conversation)
or try to modify a number in address book, save, restore to original and resave.

But in your example I see too many digits , according to wikipedia I suppose :

Valid representation of the same number for fixed line
262 ## ## ## (local call)
0262 ## ## ## (from France)
+262 262 ## ## ## (from outside)

Valid representation of the same number for mobile line
692 ## ## ##
0692 ## ## ##
+262 692 ## ## ##

Invalid numbers (too many digits or wrong prefix)
+262 0292 ## ## ##
+262 0692 ## ## ##
+692 ## ## ##
+692 692 ## ## ##

Another thing, actually mobile 693 is not supported, but I can modify.

My contacts with Dutch area codes: 010, 013, 015, 020, 023, 024, 026, 030, 033, 035, 036, 038, 040, 050, 053, 055, 058, 070, 071, 072, 073, 074, 075, 076, 077, 078, 079 are correctly formatted as (XXX) XXX XX XX.

But for some strange reason my iPhone is unable to recognise the area codes for Maastricht and surrounding areas: e.g. 043, 045, 046 and incorrectly formats these numbers as (XXXX) XX XX XX.

Is there any way to fix this "problem"?

I have searched this thread and saw Frank8's post #597 on page 60 (01-18-2009 01:21 AM) format fix for Netherlands (thanks to "tolr")
but /System/Library/Frameworks/UIKit.framework/PhoneFormats/UIDefaultFormats.phoneformat does not exist on my phone, and posts #652 / #656 on page 66 but unfortunately the default.phoneformat fix from 06-21-2009 is understandably no longer available.

Any help would be appreciated.

You're right , 043 045 046 are wrongly formatted , to fix the problem
save original file:
/System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/AppSupport.framework/Default.phoneformat
substitute with:
http://rapidshare.com/files/19201258...lt.phoneformat
check file permissions = 644 (owner:rw- group:r-- world:r--) should already be
and restart.
