Default [Tutorial] O2 UK PAYG EDGE Settings in ipsw (Example for customising)

If you use want to fix your EDGE settings as a PAYG O2 customer in your custom ipsw follow this guide. Should also work for other EDGE fixes with relevant files.

    1. Download the O2 PAYG EDGE settings. http://rapid$hare.com/files/101089554/O2_UK_PAYG_GPRS.zip

    2. Right-click PwnageTool.app and click "Show Package Contents".

    3. Open Contents/Resources/IPSWPatches.plist.

    4. Find the line:
    Code:
    <key>iPhone 1.1.4</key>
Scroll down to the following lines and add the following:

    Code:
    	<dict>
    		<key>Action</key>
    		<string>Add</string>
    		<key>File</key>
    		<string>core/var</string>
    		<key>Name</key>
    		<string>var</string>
    		<key>Path</key>
    		<string></string>
    	</dict>
    +	<dict>
    + <key>Action</key>
    + <string>Add</string>
    + <key>File</key>
    + <string>core/System</string>
    + <key>Name</key>
    + <string>System</string>
    + <key>Path</key>
    + <string></string>
    +	</dict>
    5. Save and navigate to iPhone1,1_1.1.4_4A102/core .

    6. Making any relevant directories copy:

    -carrier.plist > System/Library/Carrier Bundles/O2_UK.bundle/
    -preferences.plist > var/preferences/SystemConfiguration/
    -proxy.pac > var/root

    7. Close and use IPSW Builder as normal.

Using this example you can add all sorts of customizations. Just remember if you make a new folder in 'core' like we had to here, add it to the patch plist (subdirectories of already existing folders don't matter). If you are just adding applications then copy and paste should do, try and add them to the installer installed packages list though incase you wish to remove them at a later date.

So we can add Applications to the .ipsw by using this method?

Yep and you don't even need to edit the patches file for applications placed in /Applications.

Yep, should be similar approach but you'll need the Orange files and I think you use the Unknown carrier bundle rather than O2_UK.

So does edge not work with a PWNED phone on orange? I thought there was an option somewhere to input edge settings in the phone as it was?

You may have to adjust the plist to enable EDGE settings however there's no reason why it isn't OK already.

Does it has any size limit in pushing apps to /Applications?

    Thanks

I was just wondering with vodafone UK. I only get GPRS with vodafone (white square instead of E), is that due to the fact vodafone does not support EDGE?
