Default Is there a bug in PwnageTool 2.1?

    Hi.

Last night i spent hours trying to upgrade my first generation iPhone to 2.1 update with PwnageTool. It was the first time that i spent this much of time with PwnageTool to restore my iPhone. I kept getting 1600 error even if i switched to a pc from my Mac. So i checked iPhone Dev. Teams comments to get a solution and saw that lots of people had the same problem.

Somehow in my last try the custom ipsw worked well and get installed. But i'm afraid to try to restore again that i will spent more time.

Is this happening because of a bug in PwnageTool? Does anyone have any idea?

Also. What exactly does that 1600 error mean?

I'm wondering the same thing, although I have not had the 1600 error I did have the 6 error, less than 30secs into the restore process itunes gave this error and then my iphone was stuck in recovery mode with no way to turn it off & on,the screen was intermittently changing from the apple logo to plug into itunes logo.I really thought my iphone was finished. The ipsw file I used for customizing with pwnage 2.1 was downloaded from apple through itunes so it surely cannot be a corrupted file.In the end I tried just hitting the restore button in itunes and that worked for me.The iphone was set back to factory settings running 2.1 stock apple firmware.I then used quickpwn which ran successfully and the iphone is now back to normal.I have another iphone to update/restore but I am too scared to do it.Wait a while I think and see if the Dev team find anything untoward in the pwnage release.

Restore it with the standard 2.1 ipsw, then quickpwn it. Then you can put it in restore mode (NOT DFU) and restore it with your custom 2.1 ipsw

HomeGrown, why do i have to do that process? I mean why i can't just restore like before? Where did the iPhone Dev. Team made a mistake?
