Default reset hung 3G iphone Yellowsnow ?

    Hi,

I have an old 3G with old baseband, jb with Pwnagetool and Yellowsnow for activation. I wanted to erase it to give to someone else and decided to go the MobileMe erase way... I know... Frozen brain.... Now it hangs with Apple logo and spinning progress indicator.

Any way to revive it ? Cannot get it into restore mode so far.

Erasing the phone from MobileMe does an erase all content and settings, which erases the installed version of iOS as well. If you had a previous gen pwned bootloader, this can cause you to bootloop. Even if you didn't have a pwned one, this will cause the phone to not boot, but in most cases can just be plugged in. Sometimes when it has been pwned the wipe makes it so you have to DFU to restore. Put the phone into DFU and restore from iTunes that way and you should be fine.

Be sure to option-click restore (shift-click restore on windows) and select an IPSW for iOS 3.0 or lower if you want to keep a decent baseband and unlock.

Simply clicking "restore" will, depending on your iTunes version mean that your device will restore to 4.2.1 or 3.1.3.
