Cool [Req] 8900 decrypter/encrypter for Mac OS X

    Hey,

I was wondering if anyone could hook me up with the 8900 decrypter/encrypter (for macosx) needed to play with the .img2 files? I tried to grab the source (.zip and .c) google code but it won't compile on my system (and I'd still miss the encrypter).

I see there are quite a lot of img2's to play with, beside the logo and restore images

EDIT: nevermind, it builds on my linux box, I'm going to play with it a bit now

Well, it decrypts but "file" still says it's "data"... any hint? (and/or an encrypter, pretty please?)

There is no publicly available encrypter at the moment. The iPhone Dev Team must have an implementation of it though to make the Pwnapple and retro apple logos.

Yeah, and I don't get the next step in the 8900 container -> decrypted img2 -> "picture" process

(because beside "file" telling me it's data, I can actually see it is "data" (no signs of "signatures" from any image format I know.. unless I got blind in the meantime).. if anyone can help, here or in private I'd be really happy about it )

You need the OS X dev tools installed to compile it. Just cd into the directory and type 'make'. I have compiled it a few times and it works great on 10.5.

Yeah I managed to build it on my linux box as I previously said, but I still can't under macosx, anyway it's not a big deal.. I can do it on linux.

.. but I still don't get how to fetch the actual picture off the decrypted .img2 ... because that stuff surely isn't a real picture (2gmIogol ... heh, logoImg2 backwards, weird.) ... and beside this I still don't know how to re-create the img2 file out of a picture and encrypt it

    Can anyone help?

Default [encoding] how to encode for 8900 format?

I am thinking in how to encode my own pic for pwnge tool

    In this page:
    http://wikee.iphwn.org/s5l8900:8900_format
tell us that they are using 0x837 key to encript

    and in this page:
    http://wikee.iphwn.org/s5l8900:encryption_keys
Tell us the string for 0x837

So if you theorically(I have not tested it) encode it, it should work.

If you run this command it should theorically work:
    openssl enc -d -in yourpic.jpg -out logo.img2 -aes-128-cbc -K 345A2D6C5050D058780DA431F0710E14 -iv 0

    can sameone test it?

    That doesn't work

    openssl enc -d -in logo.gif -out logo-fromgif.img2 -aes-128-cbc -K 345A2D6C5050D058780DA431F0710E14 -iv 0

    Returns:

    bad decrypt

    3782:error:0606506D:digital envelope routines:EVP_DecryptFinal_ex:wrong final block length:evp_enc.c:454:

Anyway, when you decrypt logo.img2 (from Pwnage) or applelogo.img2 (comes from the firmware) and you open up the resulting file with a text editor of choice you will see it begins with 2gmIogol - that's logoImg2 backwards - (a real image would begin with, say, PNG or GIF89a). You'd then see references to EmbeddedImages-n (where n is a digit, 5 or 6 in the case of applelogo and logo) and iBoot. On http://wikee.iphwn.org/s5l8900:8900_format they say 8900 files are encrypted containers and they usually contain img2 files so when we decrypt an img2 we obtain an (unencrypted) img2 file.

Even if we knew how to encrypt an img2 file we would still not know how to create an img2 file
