I've read somewhere in this section that iPSWTool.app will handle the image conversion to let you put your own customs Boot and Recovery/DFU images.

I don't know if iBootIm is always a "2mgIogol".. anyway, except I don't clearly see any reference to "2gmIogol" on that page, everything else resembles those unencrypted .img2 files.. well, it looks to me at least (but I'm *very* far from being an expert )

However I don't have access to a windows box to install 010 on, so I can't even try that template, and I don't entirely understand it.

So if someone understands it and is willing to put it in comprensibile terms (even just a method, something) for me I could try to figure out a way to actually convert an image to img2 (sharing the code under MIT)

PS: to me it looks like chronicle's tool will allow people to choose from a pool of pre-made img2 files.. but I may have missed the right post

WinPwn is set to have a custom logo encoder so you can wait for that.

    I don't have a windows box

It's not clear to me if ipswtool will feature it or not, beside the bending admin I havent been able to find any evidence that it will

If you run this command it should theorically work:
    openssl enc -d -in yourpic.jpg -out logo.img2 -aes-128-cbc -K 345A2D6C5050D058780DA431F0710E14 -iv 0
That won't work. To begin with it's "openssl enc -e ...". "-d" is decrypt.
Second, that will encrypt only the payload, you still need the headers (ie full container vs just data).

I wrote a "decrypter" as proof of concept. It can be found at http://pasteb1n.ca/977711 (replace 1 for i). It takes a IMG2 file and saves it as PNG.
openssl, zlib and libpng are needed to compile it.
