Default pwnagetool and 'new bootrom' devices

    Hi --
Do any dev team utilities work with the new bootrom iphone 3gs ? Specifically, pwnagetool, and if so, how? I have heard that msftguy has found a way to use pwnagetool for certain basebands, but no confirmation that it can be used with the new bootrom. Thanks

Right now - pwnagetool is incompatible with new bootrom devices 3GS. I would not expect that situation to change until September (if it ever does).

I agree and somewhat disagree. Sure, I'd like a jailbreak for the new bootrom devices. That said, I don't want GeoHot to publicly release an exploit that Apple can patch in 4.0.1 just to 'jump the gun' and get a release out there. That just means that 4.0.1 then stops the jailbreak train again. I'd much rather see him wait until 4.0.1 is out and on all the new hardware, so the jailbreak impacts the biggest possible customer base... We all know that with the reception issues, if Apple pushes 4.0.1 to resolve the issue, they will start flashing new iPhone 4 devices with 4.0.1, so after a period, all new phones will start coming with it. Makes more sense to hold the jailbreak until that is done so that it will jailbreak 4.0.1 as well.

I know this means you're out of luck for the time being, but we'll have to wait and see.
