Can someone please help me, i am getting a 3g iphone soon in UK 02 network. Its not activated or anything.

Someone told me there is a way i can activate and jailbreak it. Did find info on how to jailbreak it but not activate. If there is a way if i activate will my normal 02 sim card work in it?

I am a windows user and not MAC. Could someone please point me to the right place what i need to download and activate my 3g iphone.

If its a UK o2 phone then it will activate with ANY o2 SIM - pay as you go or simplicity or pay monthly.

Even if you have issues with it pwnage can jailbreak and activate it easily.

You would have to use winpwn though if you don't have a mac.

My advice to you is when you get the phone put your o2 SIM in it and connect it to itunes and check that it activates normally before doing anything else.

If it does and it should then when you make your custom firmware uncheck activate and let itunes activate it everytime.

Why would someone try to make a custom firmware?? Any advantages to it?

The ONLY way to jailbreak the 3G phone is using custom firmware created by pwnagetool on mac and winpwn on windows (www.winpwn.com).

You make the custom firmware then put your phone into restore mode and select the firmware you made for the phone to restore with and then when it is finished it is jailbreaked as soon as you activate it.

There is no other method to jailbreak 2.0 or 3G as Apple fixed every other method.

Please read the FAQ from the start so you know all this!

So i have an this 2g phone (unlocked and Jailbroke by Ziphone) in 1.1.4

And i really want to try pwn and Cydia, since everybody told me that's a way better solution.
I've been reading some posts here and in other foruns/blogs. And i always get instructions how to pwn a locked iphone. I mean, i just don't know if it's an issue.

And also, i could only find upgrades from 1.1.4 to 2.0 (which i don't mind btw) but the issue is there's no more 2.0 around (at least, not the links in apple store)

And in the end of the process it's The iTunes restoring (which is 2.1 firmware) and i'm bit uneasy, pwn in 2.0 and restore in 2.1....

so, is there a way?

There is another topic stickied next to this that clearly says that pwnage is NOT working with 2.0.1 new firmware.

Everytime Apple brings out new firmware the DevTeam have to update the pwnage software - this takes time - they have said on their blog that an update to pwnage is due TODAY (Friday).

It will also include Installer 4 as well as Cydia.

Keep an eye on the forums to see when it is released.

Pwnage will ALWAYS jailbreak EVERY new firmware Apple release as it used a hardware exploit to let software modify the phone so apple can not stop it - it is just a question of patience waiting for a pwnage update after every new firmware.

As for using restore in iTunes - it is a million times safer than any other method - your phone is already jailbreaked and activated when it starts and it unlocks itself as soon as it boots the first time if your on an original iPhone.

Do not be worried about pwnage - ZiPhone broke lots of phones and pwnage has not - if you risked your phone with ZiPhone then you should have been much more scared about using that than this well written and coded software by the devteam.
