Default Pwnage problem with browse for ipsw screen

I'm trying to pwnage my iphone 3g and I get stuck in the "Browse for IPSW" screen. It keeps spinning and don't let me press "browse" option. This happens either I choose expert or simple mode and no icon can be pressed either.

Also if I choose "check for updates", it says that I'm not connected to the internet, something that's not true.

Any ideas ? I use Snow Leopard and macbook pro

10 minutes doesn't do it. I've got the same setup as you and waiting for hours doesn't get me past that screen.

Default PwnageTool canít find any firmware

    Hello.

I’ve used PwnageTool since its first version.
No issues at all... until today.

I launched PwnageTool as always (Expert mode and 3GS) and I let it find IPSW file. Everything would be cool if PwnageTool found it... but it didn’t.

Now it stays on searching and nothing happens. I’m even not able to close it in „normal way” - I have to kill it.
Of course I can’t choose IPSW file manually when PwnageTool is searching, so it becomes useless.

I’ve got several IPSWs in the same location as it was few months ago. I have two IPSWs in iTunes’ path as well. I’ve downloaded some fresh IPSWs - just to try - but it didn’t resolve this issue though.

Oh, I have launched PwnageTool with sudo ./PwnageTool - to be sure that I’ve checked everything. Of course I still have the same problem.

    What else can I do?

    It’s PwnageTool 3.1.4, iPhone OS 3.1.2 for iPhone 3G and Mac OS X v10.6.2.
CURIO: it worked FINE two days ago!

Permissions are fine, disk is fine... everything seems to be fine.
Iíll try Onyx - if this wonít help, Iíll give up.

Are you running it on the downloaded disk image? Copy pwnagetool to a folder, and copy the firmware to the same folder. If it does not work, remove the directory /Users/YourUser/Library/Application Support/PwnageTool/, the run it again

Exclamation PwnageTool: No IPSW found and hanging

I am having the exact same problem as Davvido.

After selecting the iPhone 3GS, PwnageTool seems to "hang" while searching for the IPSW. I have the app and several different IPSWs (which I have downloaded from different mirrors with confirmed checksums) in the same folder.

I tried deleting the PwnageTool folder in application support, but this didn't work either. I even used appzapper to find any .plists and there indeed was one: com.devteam.pwnagetool.plist, which I deleted, but still no luck. I tried downloading PwnageTool 3.1.3 and it also hangs.

As Davvido mentioned, the app won't quit using the exit button. It can only be force quit. The Browse for IPSW option is there when selecting Expert Mode, but nothing happens when I click it.

I tried Onyx and permissions, and still no luck.

I'm stumped... What could the problem be?

Olethros, sorry to post in both threads. I suggest merging them to reduce forum clutter? There seems to be quite a bit of ppl in different forums with this same problem. Maybe we can find the solution here if we can make enough noise.
