I posted in the SDK forum about this.

Have you gone into Recovery mode where you hold both buttons down, the screen goes dark, count to 6 and release the power button but hold the home key? Ie. release the power button before the apple logo (non-rainbow... booo!) appears?

It should then recognise it as "device". This is your starting point.

Thanks stu_. Okay, so I am using a PowerBook G4. Now, does that matter? I've read that Technical REquirements for SDK are Intel Based Leopard system.

I've also read that you can use PowerPC based MAC system but you have to install the Aspen Packages first. But in the SDK's Packages, I don't see any Aspen Packages.

Okay I've also followed your directions and it doesn't work. I put the phone in DFU mode but Xcode still won't recognize it. And I had a heck of time getting it out of DFU...and actually ended up having to restore, which is no big deal.

I just think that since Xcode can't recognize the iPhone, iTunes won't restore 5a258f either. I have noticed that in the MAC HD in the Developer/Platforms folder, there is only MacOSX.platform folder....should there be one for iPhone too? Just a thought.

The beta 4 is more responsive, that's about the only improvement I can see. The push functionality seems to work a bit better. The performance is much faster, and my meetings aren't as fubar as they were before. The battery life is still atrocious, although personally I believe the pwnage/bootneuter process has something to do with that, since I noticed it (and if you look in the forum, many ohters complaining as well) after i pwned on 1.1.4.

OKAY!!!!!!!!!!!! I FINALLY FIGURED IT OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It was the issue that I was using a PowerPC based Mac. And I did a little more research and found out that the Aspen... packages are now listed as iPhone... packages.

Now I finally have Devices under Xcode organizer. Lets see how the upgrade goes......

Oh yeah and the mail.app seems to crash way more than it did in beta 3.

    Default Beta 4

    Hello,

I updated the firmware from 1.1.4 (hacked with Ziphone) to the latest beta 4. After the update I was able to see the new hacked firmware for few seconds - than the iphone was locked. Now, I have to activate it, but I am not a ATT customer, becuase I am from europe ;-)
Since the update is done I am not able to downgrade the OS. It doesn't matter if I use iTunes or Xcode. I can only restore to the latest beta 4 not a previous version.
Now, Windows is unable to find the iPhone (I think this is because of the new iPhone encryption).
Has anybody here the same problem? Has anybody a solution to downgrade from beta 4? If not I will still wait for the new pwnagetool ;-)

Hey guys! So the update went pretty smooth after I figured everything out. The update failed half way in Xcode so I did it with iTunes and it worked just fine. It took forever though...but thats fine.

But now, does anyone know how to Jailbreak this puppy? I read a few posts back that this can be jailbroken...well can anyone point me in the right direction?
