    Hey CurveBall,

(When you fix your VM,) Check if you have the following file:

    Code:
    $ ls -la /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/MobileDevice.framework/Versions/A/MobileDevice
    -rwxr-xr-x 1 root wheel 1755868 3 Sep 22:40 /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/MobileDevice.framework/Versions/A/MobileDevice
    $
    Hey,
Thanks for helping, but how should I put this command into terminal? If i do this I get:
    Code:
    virtual-machines-computer:/Users/virtualmachine root# $ ls -la /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/MobileDevice.framework/Versions/A/MobileDevice
    su: $: command not found
    virtual-machines-computer:/Users/virtualmachine root# -rwxr-xr-x 1 root wheel 1755868 3 Sep 22:40 /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/MobileDevice.framework/Versions/A/MobileDevice
    su: -rwxr-xr-x: command not found
    virtual-machines-computer:/Users/virtualmachine root# $ls -la /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/MobileDevice.framework/Versions/A/MobileDevice
    su: -la: command not found
Can you tell me how I should type this in? I'm a pretty noob with command line...

    Default firmware corrupted

    Setup: Vistax64 ultimate running VM with:OS X 10.5.1
(trying to work around the 'not for windows users' issue as I don't have access to a mac)

Pwnage tool runs and reports no errors.

    iTunes 9.0.1.8

After build is complete I've tried going to recovery mode to itunes and DFU mode (yes/no respectively to last Pwnage tool question). Both have yielded the same result: iTunes error: iphone could not be restored because firmware file is corrupt. disconnect and reconnect then try again.
I've received this error on both the VM and Vista, usb cord recently used to upgrade my sisters iphone to stock (she's too afraid to jailbreak)

    Did I make a mistake?
Did the latest iTunes start checking firmware files?
    Options/things to try?

    Appreciate any input.

I finally did get the custom firmware to install but had to get it out of DFU by re-installing the stock firmware, then creating a new custom firmware with PwnageTool, then letting PwnageTool put the iPhone into DFU mode. I've got the carrier logo back - and Cycorder and YourTube...

    hey guys,
Just to let you know, today I've turned an old PC of mine into a hackintosh, a very limited one though. I don't have any internet connection, but at least the Pwnage Tool is working, so this problem is solved (for me at least ).
Thanks for your help and support

If you have a 2G iPhone that is pwned at 1.1.4 you can simply restore directly to 3.1.4 using custom ipsw created with pwnage tool. Because you are already pwned you can say yes to the "is your iPhone pwned already" when you are making the custom ipsw.

You can always restore back to 1.1.4 if necessary.

    Cool

    I don't have a MAC, i use Win 7,
What options do i have, other than downloading Custom 3.1.2 ipsw from internet, which i think is dangerous. or as blackrain, doesn't support hactivation
    on iPhone 2G ???
