Shit guys, after installing 10.4.11 I can't boot my Virtual machine anymore. It gives me some kind of strange error which is kernel panic on a real machine I think. Now I've got to restore my VM to an earlier version which will take a while. I'll let you know when I'm done.

    Hey CurveBall,

(When you fix your VM,) Check if you have the following file:

    Code:
    $ ls -la /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/MobileDevice.framework/Versions/A/MobileDevice
    -rwxr-xr-x 1 root wheel 1755868 3 Sep 22:40 /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/MobileDevice.framework/Versions/A/MobileDevice
    $

    Hey Will,

If you go to iTunes and simply click Restore, iTunes is going to automatically select the image to be restored on your phone.

When using PwnageTool, a custom image (ipsw file) will be generated, and you need to restore this custom image to your phone (and not the default one that iTunes would select).

So, you need to press SHIFT while clicking on Restore in iTunes. That will allow you to select any ipsw file to restore. If you are using a Mac, press OPTION (alt key) while clicking Restore.

    Cheers

Hey everyone I have the same problem as Curveball. I cannot get pwnage tool 3.1.4 to work on my mac os x virtual machine on vista host. I also cannot drag and drop so I had to make my pwnage tool into an iso and mount it in the virtual disk drive. Have been up all night trying to get the pwnage tool 3.1.4 to work.

Default Also unable to use Pwnage 3.14--cannot restore this IPhone

I continue to get the error message "cannot restore this IPhone" when using the custom 3.12 IPSW made by Pwnage 3.14. Have tried it 5 different times and it does not work. Any ideas?

could be lots of things... what just happened to me, iTunes didn't like my powerless USB hub to restore through...just plug directly in computer usb and voila.

Or, u're in recovery mode (itunes usb pic) instead of being in DFU (black screen) while your iphone hazn't been pwned before.

Or u could maybe google the error number or ask the forum and some wiz will find you a solution. Don't forget to give a little more details...iPhone gen (3GS, 3G, 2G), previous firmware, was it pwned before...good luck

    Hi guys,
I think the problem is that I do not have iTunes 9.0.1 installed. I wanted to run OSX 10.6 but I do not have enough memory.
The problem is that iTunes 9 only can be installed if you have 10.4.11 installed. That update to 10.4.11 gives me boot errors.
So I gave the hope a bit up, but now there seems to be a sollution, I'll download the VM again (yes I deleted it after it got updated to 10.4.11) and try it.

Default Have restored to stock iPhone1,2_3.1.2_7D11 and can't JB

I've been having problems installing a Pwnd iPhone1,2_3.1.2_7D11 firmware on my 3G. The phone was previously jailbroken, but I restored to the stock 3.1.2 firmware when the new PwnageTool was released, and now I can't install the custom.ipsw - iTunes had been getting stuck on "preparing iPhone for restore" then sending up a numbered error message or saying that the phone can't be restored. The last time I tried, I got the message that I was using an "incompatible firmware."

I got stuck in recovery mode and tried going into DFU from recovery - it seemed to work - the screen went black and iTunes detected the phone, but no go.

It will restore the stock firmware, so I have an iPhone, but I miss Cycorder and YourTube.

    Any advice will be appreciated.

    Try this:
    - Restore to 3.0
    - jailbreak with redsn0w 0.8
    - Enter Recovery Mode (*not* DFU)
    - restore to 3.1.2 with the custom firmware.

    Good luck
