Me too - 2G Phone .. Restored latest 2.0 firmware using iTunes, built ipsw in Expert mode, manually entered DFU Mode on Phone and got the DFU Failure screen .. Have tried a few different ways .. Hmmmm :-)

I used the directions from Foodie_Monster over in the dev blog comments and I got past that error.

    "1) Plug in your Phone
    2) Turn it off while plugged in.
    3) Press and hold the Home button and then press and hold the power button.
    4) After about 3-5 seconds, let go of the Power button but keep holding the home button.
    5) Your screen should turn on and eventually show the iTunes logo"

Oh, I don't have a problem manually getting the phone in DFU mode but the tool still reports an error ...

I've probably goofed up! .. I'm going to use the tool on 1.1.4 and then do 1.2 again and see what happens ..

    Thanks Dev Team ... OX

    FIX!

    Open Terminal, then do:

    cd ~/Library/iTunes
    mkdir "Device Support"

Then try PwnageTool again - should work!
