    Thank you very much krustytroll!

But I donīt understand, why you need the steps 1-3. He updated an already unlocked and jailbroken 2G which had service. Is iTunes 8 the problem?

What would happen, if I update my own 2.0.2 / 2G already pwned / jailbroken with iTunes 7.7.1 to 2.1? Will this work?

Correct me if I'm wrong do I need to put my phone to DFU before updating so I won't lose my unlock and activation?

    Default Tzone HAck?

I would like to update and do not mind losing cydia and such if my tzone hack stays in tack. Any tmobile users know if the tzone hack stays written with the update through itunes? If so, let me know, so I can update

So we can all just use the iTunes 8.0 update button to update to 2.1. (if I have 2.0.1 pwned 1st gen iPhone?)

I did steps 1-3 as I was on 1.1.4 previously. I used quickpwn first just to pwn it in 2.x. there wasn't any problem with itunes 8 for me.

i don't know if you can update to 2.1 in 7.7.1, i didn't wanna risk that.

I have a pwned/jailbroken/unlocked iphone on tmobile (US). I tried to 'just' update through iTunes8 by pressing the update button. this has caused a world of trouble.

What are the exact steps people have used? Reminder, I need it activated as well.

Is anyone else able to open iPhone1,2_2.1_5F136_Restore.ipsw for iPhone 3G with PwnageTool? I got "Wrong firmware bundle" twice, and I redownloaded the file with iTunes to make sure it downloaded properly.

it happened to me as well. here is what i did.

    1.1.4 > 2.0.2 > 2.1 (Success)

    1. alt+Restore to 2.0.2(Original FW) in iTunes 7.7.1
    2. Use Quickpwn and pwn 2.0.2 fw
    3. Phone pwned(activated/unlocked), but no service after quickpwn.
    4. Use Pwnage Tool(latest version) and make custom 2.0.2 ipsw.
    5. alt+Restore to custom 2.0.2(custom fw) in iTunes 7.7.1 (might need to include BootNeuter and neuter the baseband just in case)

At this stage, I got back my service (could make calls/send sms)

    6. Update to 2.1

p.s Everytime I did a restore, I set the iPhone in DFU mode.

    That's it.
Thanks man! Followed your instructions and everything worked fine, cheers!

Update to 2.1 worked for me

Previously on pwned version of 2.0.2 on standard UK 2G phone (custom firmware from Mac running Leopard) using vodafone in the UK - downloaded standard 2.1 and Updated via iTunes 8 (no use of pwnage this time) and phone is still activated & unlocked
