Ok I'll do. If you need it urgent, you can install cydia by using Quickpwn. The hint is only select Cydia, not select any update and unlock operation.

I have tried to use quickpwn myself but it just crashes when terminal open a hashing starts

After about 6 hours of trying with all these different firmwares... I finally have success! I am now running Firmware 2.1 with a different IMEI!

Reasoning behind this:

I have AT&T and I also have unlimited txting on my plan, and to have a legit iPhone plan is $5 more a month than on a normal phone. AT&T DID notice that I was using an iPhone, and wanted me to sign up for an iPhone data plan.

So, in conclusion. No more iPhone IMEI...no more Nagging AT&T.

As to my knowledge, theres nothing you have to edit for the iPhone to use the "Unlimited Media Net" package, or am I wrong on that?

Any chance you could send the links my way? My non-iphone corporate discount would thank you for saving its life! tia...

Wow, I finally got there.. It took me a LOT longer than I expected..

I loaded the 2.1 firmware with bootneuter on OK, I managed to get the phone into DFU mode, but I couldn’t get the computer with the earlier version of itunes installed to pick the phone up.

I tried installing a newer version this seemed to pick the phone up OK, downgraded again and tried but no joy. Tried a different computer, but the same, tried a different lead. Googled the error messages etc, finally got it to work by getting hold of a copy of itunes 8 and extracting the msi’s from it and installing the mobiledevicedrivers.msi (repair install) then used a different data cable and the least used USB port on the PC.

Putting into DFU mode you *MUST* hold down the home button till the PC picks the phone up or it wont work!! (if I had known this before this would have saved me about 5 hours of messing about!!)

Next problem was trying to get the phone out of recovery mode after the 1015 error. I firstly tried iLiberty, which detected the phone in recovery mode but sat there doing nothing when I selected to boot the phone back into normal mode. Then tried Ziphone that gave me the same results, also tried Ibrickr, this was the best of the bunch as it actually gave me a steer that it wasn’t going to work!!, it changed the background of the phone to green and said that I’d need to restore using itunes, I restored to 1.1.4 again and this time ibrickr worked (the background went red) and the phone rebooted into normal mode.

My next mission is to get Cydia installed as it didn’t come on the 2.1 firmware version MagicTR so kindly supplied (props for the method). If anyone’s got any ideas on this I’m all ears…

for Cydia you need to download QuickPwn21-1 unzip and put quickPwn in a new folder on your desktop with a copy of iPhone1,1_2.1_5F136_restore
not the clear copy you used to get iPhone to 2.1 or quickPwn will not see the rom.
Then run Quickpwn pick the restore rom then only tick Cydia and no others
then start: will take about 5 mins, then you will have Cydia on your iphone still unlocked with changed imei and 1.1.4 baseband

Hello everyone, i recently installed the pwnagetool 2.1, it works perfect, but after few i made i mistake i think, from my iphone i click the option restart and clean contents, so now when the iphone want to start i just stay trying to start with the logo of the pineapple without starting,

does anyone knows what to do??

thanks for the tip, unfortunately quickpwn's not an option for me as i'm a windows user and as i understand it winpwn doesnt work with 2.1. If MagicTR creates another version with the cydia installer in (or anyone else for that matter) can you please PM me the link to it?? (dont post on the board cause it's against the rules and i dont want to get anyone banned!!)
