[pwnage2.1][fw 2.1]1600 error on restore,help plz
I just upgraded my 1.1.4 iphone to 2.1 using pwnage tool 2.1,the upgrade was fine, FYI i did all this on itunes 7.7 or whatever the version of itunes there was before itunes 8.
after the upgrade to 2.1 i upgraded to itunes 8 but when i tried to restore my iphone from the backup that i made before upgrading, it got stuck on the revolving wheel.
then when i tried to restore my iphone to the custom restore again, itunes 8 gives me error 1600. :S
i need some1 to tell me how to successfully get my iphone back to 2.1 with restored contacts and stuff.
Any help would be appreciated
First of all, create a new IPSW with 700 MB's of root partition size. Most of the time 1600 error appears because of that.
Also try restoring without putting your iPhone to DFU mode.
I changed my root partition size to 700 MB and restored my first generation iPhone without putting to DFU mode. At first iTunes gave another silly error message but then on the second restore everything went well.
What i am trying to say is that. Keep on trying. Maybe it won't be restored on the first one but it may be restored on the second or third one.
About that backup of yours. You can't restore a backup that had been taken from a 1.1.4 iPhone to 2.1 iPhone because of their difference in their architecture. You should do all the settings again, delete the old backup and take a fresh backup for emergencies.
Good luck buddy.
USE THE SEARCH FUNCTION
or just scroll down......this was on the first page
MacBook Pro OS X SNOW Leopard
iPhone 4 16GB
iPad WiFi 64GB iOS 4.2
BlackBerry Curve 3G (9300)
Before you about to hold down alt/option and click restore, make sure your iphone is in recovery mode, which has the usb cable follow by the arrow point to the Itunes icon, by doing this hold down the Home button and connect usb cable until you see the cable, the arrow point to Itunes icon. Hope this will solve the error 1600. Good luck.
