then with the package copied to the thinkpad dit a restore in iTunes to the custom firmware.

It worked great itunes 7 did give some mesages on the way that the iPhone needed itunes 8 but left it connected and running and everything was just as it should be.

(did try it on the mac but has to do with itunes 8 because I was still getting error 6 and yes it was in DFU)

i just wanted to thank you so much for posting your problem and then the solution you did in order to fix it!!!! this is hour 7 :hack: and i can't tell you how much i thank you. your fix was the only one that worked!!!! thanx again.

My wife recently dropped her iPhone in the toilet, and we tried the rice for a few days, but it wouldn't turn back on. It was a goner. We went through the trouble of opening the phone up, putting white-out on the two water mark sensors (because they had turned red) in the phone, and then also put white out on the water sensor in the headphone jack. We were slightly worried about the 4th water sticker at the bottom, but you can barely see it, so I didn't think the Apple geniuses would look.

So we go return her phone, and the Apple Genius didn't even check to see if the water sensor was red in the headphone jack. We did all that for nothing, I guess. But anyway, we got a new iPhone, and we had to jailbreak it again, of course!

Back to the point of the thread, I got an error 2001, and I did a quick google search, and this page came up. I read through sambrightman's post, which somewhere in all that rattle, it said just quit iTunes and start it up again. I'm not too sure what the hell he's yacking about when it comes to white and black screens... When I got the 2001 error, I just hit OK, quit iTunes, and reopened iTunes, and iTunes recognized the phone in DFU mode.

    Wonderful. Thanks for the input!

    Exclamation Please please please help!

I get half way through the QuickPwn on my Mac process, and right after I get into DFU mode, I get iTunes error (2001). Then QuickPwn gets stuck on the step "QuickPwn is about to run on your iPhone 3G" and will not move. I also tried PwnageTool and am getting error (2001) when entering DFU and my iTunes cannot even see my iPhone on the left hand side. I tried to do a "soft" recovery or something (unplug iPhone from cable, hold down Home button and plug in the cable at the same time). Then iTunes could see my iPhone 3G, however, when I tried to restore from my custom firmware, I get error (21) in iTunes. What am I doing wrong? Thanks a lot!
