    Default [Pwnage 2.1] Error 1600 - SOLUTION

If you encounter this error with iTunes 8, do not enter DFU mode. Instead go to recovery mode. Hold Power+Sleep.. wait until you see the pineapple logo and release the power. You should see Steve Job picture and itunes should detect your iphone in recovery mode.

Update: I have tried this method successfully:

    1. Update to 2.1 normal OS
    2. Pwn it without sim card
    3. DFU mode restore to custom 2.1 OS

This gives me No Error or what so ever with iTunes 8.0.

It didn't work for me.. I've been working on my screwed iphone for 24 hours now. Fixed it just now by downgrading it to 1.1.3 with itunes 7.5 and used ilibertyx 1.51. Man i love the old school hacks!!!! I wish they could bring them back to the 2.0 era!
Now i'll try to upgrade it up to 2.1 again without all the trouble wish me luck!

Tried this. DFU mode=> error 1600
    Recovery mode=> error 6
Any other ideas. I am using iTunes 8, previously Pwned phone, updated to 2.1 last night in iTunes update. Thanks for any insight.

Ok. I also just realized I am stuck in recovery mode. I could always get out of DFU mode by holding the sleep and home buttons until the logo. This does not work for me for recovery mode. Again, any insight would be greatly appreciated.

To all the guys having 1600 and 6 errors:

At first i did an advanced firmware with pwnage. dfu and restore morde didn't work. could get itunes to install my custom firmware.

then restored a normal 2.1 version from apple and created a new firmware with pwnage. this time i choosed the "beginner" mode and not the expert mode. entered dfu mode and everything works.

thanks devteam you are awesome, without you the iPhone would stink.

aw man, i wish i was able to try such easy methods as you eternal
I am now done with this! After i downgraded it i did my best to restore it to be most basic settings i could get. BB and BL restore and everything with iliberty+. Then upgraded to 1.1.4 with itunes 7.7 (or 7.5 don't remember), then made a pwnd v2.1 file with all bb&bl upgrade settings on. Woala!

I did a lot of trial and error with itunes versions and osx versions. 10.5.4 and 10.4.9 (wich i had to update to 10.4.11 against my will...)

I'm never going to update my phone again!!!! It was worth it though, 2.0.x was buggy as hell!

    Smile Quickpwn

    I had the following problem:

Was on 2.0.2 pwned 1st Gen iPhone.
Updated to 2.1 via itunes 8.

    Worked fine.

Restored iPhone through itunes 8 (firmware 2.1) and my lost jailbreak and activation (although I could make and receive calls through emergency keypad)

Tried downgrading with itunes 7.7, restoring with custom 2.1 firmware through pwnage tool, restoring with original firmwares but kept getting all sorts of errors like 1600, 1604, 6, 1 , 2001.

Finally I used quickpwn and yay my phone activated and was jailbroken. Possibly the easiest way if you are stuck like I was.

same thing happened with my iphone... fixed it...

the iphone was not actually in DFU mode... i thought it was in DFU mode when i got the blank black screen... i was totally frustrated with this... then i tried using the quickpwn SW which is released on a different website which of course was not working but they had this timer thing in it to help u get the phone in dfu mode... i use their sw n did the same thing which i was doing for a long time time... but the software helped to get the blank WHITE screen of dfu mode... once i got that i immediately stopped the SW process so that it doesnt mess up my phone again... i started up itunes with the blank white screen on my phone... n did a retore using a custom firmware downloaded via torrent... everythin worked well...

in short the iphone is not in dfu mode when u get n e errors... u have to get the blank white screen of dfu mode...
