[Pwnage 2.0][How to disable EDGE]

hi,

I have a 1st gen iphone, jailbreaked, unlocked with the 2.0 version.
I use windows.
Can somebody please for the love of god tell me how to disable EDGE? I tried to use the winscp methode but I can't understand a thing!!!

I haven't had time to update yet, but why would you want to disable edge?

I'm in the same boat... when you don't have a data plan you want to make sure you don't have a 10000 dollar bill at the end of the month...

exactly! edge here in Switzerland is like 100 bucks for 1 kb...

Well, just putting a wrong character after the apn should help (i.e. gprs.swisscom.chx if gprs.swissocm.ch were the correct apn). I had the opposite problem by the way. After upgrading my phone to 2.0 and restoring the backed up data (by itunes) my iPhone was unable to connect to the internet by GPRS, regardless of which apn I put in. I had to restore the phone and not load back the backup of it to work.

I wasn't able to edit the apn... and after these steps, all is good.

I recently got EDGE turned off by doing the following:

(Settings>)
Fetch New Data: Off

(Settings>General)
Location Services: Off

Just check every now in usage.
(Settings>General>usage)

After attempting to edit the carrier plist without success..I called my service provider, Rogers Canada.

They were able to kill my internet access through their customer service centre, and viola, I no longer fear extraordinary charges.

I would suggest that you simply call your service provider and request that your edge access be disabled.

Honestly, pay the 5 bucks for tzones (if that is what you use) I love it. Use it all the time. Great boredom saver.

Just go to http://unlockit.co.nz/ on your iPhone. You can set your APN through this site. It saves a profile to the phone. Works with iPhone software 2.0.
